That is a non sequitur. The modern world's lack of belief in the gods of Olympus, etc, has no more bearing on our acceptance of science than does the lack of belief in the literalness of any number of religious texts, including the Bible.

Theories are called "theories" because they are explanations for phenomena, which have empiric evidence to back them up - not because they are "fake".

Was this scientific theory written by God? No, it was not. Of course a human can simply write something and claim it as fact, but The Bible is different. It is the word of the LORD. The LORD is outside of the realm of the scientific process. It is not governed by experimentation and reviewing, rather, it is all plausible based on the power of faith (and the simple fact that it's simply true).
