Since reading this thread i went and bought Miinecraft.

I don't know where the last week has gone :|

I have a cr*cked version of Minecraft, and am planning on actually buying the game, for the MP experience and fast normal updates. But when I buy it, I get permanent access to all possible updates in the future, right?

Yes. It's also DRM free, which is always a good thing.

Awesome, I can play with my account on any machine. I guess I'm buying this game after all. I'll just play a bit more in the cr*cked version to see if I really dig this game. (you get it?)

I'm preventing this with a simple thing: I'm currently living over 200 km away, so if the map ever extends that far, I think I need to be committed to some sort of an institute.

Me too... Already built a giant staircase from top to the most bottom... You know, not just a block for each level, I mean slabs (half blocks), two of them for each level. This way I don't need to jump to get to the next block. Makes branch mining a breeze!

Of course... it also took me about 5 hours to create. But hey, already got about 7 diamonds!

Next comes the moment in which I ask my parents, calmly, if I can buy this game.

Some notes:
1) You can mod the game... It's not rocket science. My friends released some mod packs for airplanes and airships that you could actively build and control.
2) I've been playing this for a long, long time. My specialties lie in flying structures and underwater cities. I don't particularly like superstructures, per say, but I do enjoy remaking some things. For example, I remade the house I grew up in, my grandmother's house, and my best-friend's house completely from memory with a 1:1 scale, and with most of the houses' exteriors on that same street that connected us all.
What can I say? Sometimes I miss home. :/
3) Where's everyone currently playing the most hardcore at? And I have more minecraft friends that would happily help in this domination of minds and building.

Nothing more than the excitement of engineering complete underwater systems, capable of making the trip across the ocean not only quick via perpetual Minecart system - but with places to stop, chill, and develop more above-water colonies and access points?

I think it's more of my engineering side that speaks in these situations - just a childish fascination with being able to have water all around you, but having the skill and tools to make a complete world in something that seems 100% uninhabitable.

Isn't there some server that people from our site frequent?

THAT would be the end of minecraft - if nothing, then for the randomly generated land and the resulting physics shift of every single block without logical inference for being held up there.

Well Tylzen's friend's server seems to have a few people on it. Tylzen, gnug, myself and I think a few other people go on it. I know DarkTheAtheist from youtube was on there last night.

Note that the area shown in the above video (Youtube Town) is now actually massively urbanised and quite weird. A bunch of people have sort of migrated to another area that has been named Mikville. You can use the /warp command to teleport to the different places, but mikville seems to be the most active area at the moment. Best to build super awesome mega structures in youtube town, though, because mikville is a more rural place and intends to stay that way.

I'm currently just starting to build the mines of moria a couple of minutes away from mikville. I've so far just got the entrance and steps leading up away from the door. I'm going to put the silent pool in front of it. I intend to make it a massive place, with all the main landmarks.

Uh, Nasher. This is gonna sound a bit stupid, I guess, but... who are you on that server???
