The Occupy Wall Street protestors have now issued a declaration and a manifesto listing it's objectives. Now it's less "bunch of hippies whining about stuff" and more like a movement with a purpose.

Anyway, I don't want this crapfest to derail this thread so here's an article on the Occupy protests and it's presence on the internet:

Prolescum you're clearly holding a grudge from our past disagreements since you had to resort to silly claims about me. Legendary huh? Anyway, sarcasm or not, Welsh presented an exaggerated viewpoint of Ken's (i.e. civil rights atrocities) in order to argue against it and ridicule it. That's a...
Um okay. Care to explain what the hell was your mocking post about then? Why did you sarcastically bring up the civil rights protests if not to mock others and to strawman then? Now it's my turn to ask you what your point was. I mean, you're accusing people of incorrectly accusing you of...
I have no idea what you're going on with your "empty can" claim nor do I know what it is but I do know that what you did was strawman when you made it sound like people were making this sound worse than what happened to folks in some civil rights protests. I'm not looking for a fight here but I...
Definitely not as serious as the civil rights protests but then again, I didn't see anyone make that comparison except you in the previous post. I still think it's a serious issue though.
Gah, how the hell did I miss all of this? I would have done my best to spread word about the event. And I disagree with Prolescum's self righteous rant. I mean geez, he's afraid that protesting could very much lead the movement to turning into another Tea Bagging Party so why bother, people are...
Well, most of the key issues in the "culture wars" (man I hate that term) like creationism in public schools, separation of church and state disputes, abortion, etc etc. have pretty much have had the courts deciding against what the fundies have wanted. I don't see the trend changing anytime...
It depends on who is losing this "war". To the losing side, getting rid of judicial review is worth it. Or maybe it doesn't matter who is losing, the fact is that as you pointed out, the courts tend not to be on the side of the hardcore christians so it's probably worth it to those extremists...
Nice analogy. It reminds me of the instances when someone's life has been saved through the coordinated team work of many rescue workers only to have someone say "I'd like to thank God for saving my life!"
I also thought at first this island would just fail and implode in on itself but then...
Good grief. I had to log in just to tell you how dense you are. Or maybe you're just being dishonest on purpose. Way to miss the point that everyone was making that even my 9 year old understood. Seriously.
Fuck him. Right off the bat he insults you and falls back on the much parroted insult of "communist" as soon as you tried to reason with him. Unfortunately, I've had similar experiences with friends both online and real life. The funny thing is that I never started those fights, it's always...
How much does anyone want to bet that the percentage of Christians who said they would kill if their religion was under attack would be even higher than the 28% for Muslims? Heck how many would kill for their dog or cat if it was under attack? I'd say pretty damn close as well.
Looks pretty clear to me as well that the OP (and many other extremist right wingers) is trying to weasel his way out by dismissing Brevik as just a nutjob. Yet if he were a muslim (or even a liberal), they'd be all over it by claiming all muslims are just like him. The fact is that Brevik acted...
