So does three hots and a cot, and guaranteed free health care.

>Exactly.

The military is verbatim communism in action.
Free healthcare (medical AND dental), a job assigned based upon your talents, hierarchy based upon value to the system, and so on.
Shit, my FOOD is free.

I just think it's funny that people will badger on about how systems where people work together for a common goal will not work, but applaud our Navy as the world's FINEST.

Communism works on the small-scale with a group mission. Socialism on the large with capitalistic backing.

/Rant

Also, the stupid claims that the government can't create jobs, and that the government can't do anything right ever.

Does that mean that Republicans hate the troops, or believe that they actually don't exist?!?!

Of course, a large chunk of the Republicans making those claims are collecting government paychecks, enjoying government-funded healthcare, and plan on sucking on a government pension. Hypocritical morons!

Hehe ... classic. :D

I'll give you this quote (one of my personal favourites) to summarize my views on war :) :

"War does not determine who is right - only who is left." - Bertrand Russell.
A quote from one of the greatest thinking people, both philosophically, and (arguably) politically, of the 20th Century.

One of Stewart's greatest pwnages at 30 seconds.

Very good point by Stewart. One major issue is, of course, that doctors, nurses and other health care professionals would be paid substantially less as government employees and would resist harder than they did during the introduction of the NHS in the UK. It would also increase hospital waiting lines and reduce quality of care for those who currently are fully insured.

I see this said by conservatives quite often. I call bullshit. Having millions of people who can ONLY use the hospital as a source of healthcare see family doctors for preventative care would decrease the waiting lines and increase the quality of care in hospitals. People would be better able to be diagnosed early and this would decrease the need for hospital visits, not to mention that so many people are forced to use hospitals to treat flu and other sicknesses that a family doctor would be able to monitor and treat far better.

Yeah, but it is a perfect example of "conservative" stupidity. The American health care system provides less and charges more than the health care system that most other developed nations enjoy. The only thing it is good at is lining the pockets of parasitic capitalists at the expense of the American people. And they think that's a good thing!

(sarcasm) Brilliant! Let's employ everyone in the country in the military! That will stop unemployment right there! (/sarcasm)

Come on, guys, you know better then this.

It's an example of a finely-tuned communism that works with high efficiency.
Quit your sarcastic bickering, and dish me out some actual evidence besides butthurt sarcasm when this point is a thorn in the side to your Economic principles of why Capitalism is #1 and Communism is #NONE.

The fanboy bit is getting old.

arg-fallbackName="televator"/>
Why would anyone get the idea that drafting everyone into the military to ensure universal healthcare and employment coverage was the point of the recent conversation? Oh, right.... that's a straw man. I ignore those.

The point is to 'disappear' the evidence , in this case by strawman and dismissal, that the "conservative" (really anti-American radicalism) position is full of shit. The government doesn't create jobs, except for the tens of millions that it does through the military and military contracts. Universal health care and other "socialist" ideas are flawed and foolish, unless it is the "best military in the world." Government spending is bad, unless it is on a new fighter jet or naval vessel.

Good grief. I had to log in just to tell you how dense you are. Or maybe you're just being dishonest on purpose. Way to miss the point that everyone was making that even my 9 year old understood. Seriously.

Well the guy did just call him dense. If I were not me, I wouldn't effing respond.

But you would never make straw men about valid facts that directly violate your case like it had just returned from Neverland Ranch.

That's quite beside the point, my dear.
Fallacies are fallacies. If you said it, if Shock said it, if Nephy said it, or if Arthur says it - it doesn't matter. If you are being a twat, then you're being a twat. You either come back, and say "I was wrong" or explain why you're correct in a more professional manner.
:I

arg-fallbackName="Prolescum"/>
I don't want to belabour the point, but when did it become acceptable to write
"I had to log in just to tell you how dense you are" regardless of the target?

I think Arthur's political stances are pretty vulgar and almost certainly destructive, but this is just bad form.
