Yeah I'm beginning to wonder if he really understands what's going on.
Oh I'm sure he'll get the point when fed up protesters storm his palace and put a pick axe through his skull.

Arrgh! If the fool had made no speech, the protests might have gradually lost interest. Now, though, he's got them riled up again.
He should have stepped down a week ago and perhaps moved to Saudi Arabia. He's had a long run and could have bowed out at least semi-gracefully. Not now, though. If the protesters make it a true revolution, he'll likely be killed if he keeps this up.

They're already set fire to the Palace previously, I really don't think they're going to do that again. It changed nothing.

Mubarak has apparently fled to Sharm-el-Sheikh, and he's about to make another announcement....

... and he steps down!!!

Going... going... GONE!
He's finally done the right thing.

Now, though, there is the matter of filling the power vacuum. Suleiman is currently holding all the powers of President, but I doubt he'll keep that role for very long if he has any sense at all. I hope El Baradei and other people involved in the demonstrations are able to move quickly to prevent the wrong people getting in. Egypt could still become another Iran if things play into the wrong hands.

The Egyptian military have done a good job preventing violence so far. Here's hoping they don't exploit it and put another military man in place.

This strikes me as depressingly true. If he could have held out long enough, eventually the lack of productive happenings (e.g., moving of food and water) might have become too large a cost and resulted in a general end to the protest. It would have ultimately secured his power because whenever anyone thought of revolting again they would just see large staggering costs and low likelihood of actual change...

I was curious to hear what one of the philosophical genuises of our time had to say about it.

You are wittnessing the Archduke Ferdinand moment, which led to a transformative change called World War I. You are watching the beginning and the birth, of the New World Order.

Gaah. Glenn Beck is an absolute dick. A brutal dictator is overthrown, and the most intelligent, thought out thing he can come up with is some bullshit conspiracy about the Muslim Brotherhood will cause World War 3 and create a New World Order.

Oh Glenn Beck, you are nothing more than an ignorant clown.

From 6:54, 7:20, Beck claims that there was a difference between the U.S. Revolution and the French Revolution. He claims that the French revolution is different because it ended with ""¦bloodshed and the guillotine"¦". I think Beck forgot that the U.S. Revolution also ended in bloodshed and the only reason there were no guillotines in the U.S. Revolution is that our monarchs were an ocean away. It seems strange that Beck would forget this fact seeing as how he has had a lot of rhetoric that referred to the Revolutionary War, or maybe he thought we won that war without firing a bullet. Either way, this video is just more proof that Beck is nothing more than an ignorant clown.

Encouraged by the events in Egypt, cries are circulating through twitter to stage protests in Tehran to dispose of the Iranian regime.

@I_LOVE_IRAN: its time for #iran to send the mullahs running for their worthless lives! down with khamenei, down with ahmadinejad, #valentinesrevolution

I'm not convinced the Iranian regime will be overthrown just yet, even taking into account what Egypt has just done. It's too soon since the abortive Green Revolution. People will have that fresh in their memories and many will be reluctant to go to protests.

I had a discussion with an expatriate about the situation in Iran and they seem very excited about the upcoming protest.

Could it just barely be possible...? (1:39)

Well, Egyptians are already pretty damn "westernized".
Hell, the internet is what sparked the protests. They luuuuuuuuv technology!
