Alrighty then -
We can assume character creation on this thread for the OWoD campaign.
I'll post the XP spread and dish out the proper notifications when I get home to my notebooks. >.>

arg-fallbackName="Noth"/>
OWoD it is :)

Looking forward to seeing what you've got in store for us.

"The party starts of approximately 1500 feet above ground, plummeting towards their deaths. WelshIdiot and ArthurWilborn hit the ground and are killed instantly. Noth is a wizard and can save himself by rolling a 4 or higher on the quick-wittedness dice."

*Noth rolls 5*

"Noth slows his fall with a spell, only to be eaten by the dragon the party fell off earlier. The end."

Meh.
I'm more Stephen King in my storytelling - I've got a better horror theme in my sleeve.

arg-fallbackName="ArthurWilborn"/>
Yep. For rolls you get one die for every point in the two most relevant stats. DM declares a difficulty. Number that and over are successes, ones negate successes. One success is moderate, three is good, zero successes and a one is a botch and bad things happen.

arg-fallbackName=")O( Hytegia )O("/>

^^ Hmmm,....no I haven't played much of that, a little but not much.

It's simple.
You just roll a mess of 10 sided dice.
Each skill/level is worth a single dot. For every dot you have, it's an extra to the total number of dice you roll.
From there, it's about counting the number of dice that are either Success (The Difficulty or above), Null (Under the Difficulty), or Cancelled (Rolling a 1 Cancels out every successful dice roll).
Your amount of epic is determined by how many successes you have versus how many I require for something (which is the DM's choice - meaning I decide and don't have to tell you the outcomes required. It allows me to give the classic "DM BUMP" if I need the story to roll on and you happen to pick the stupidest and most retarded way to perform the most seemingly simple task) - if you have no successes, you fail.
If you BOTCH (Having more 1s than Successes to cancel out) shit goes bad.

It's basically the success/fail/epic fail system in degrees.

Obviously, the more dots you have in an area the more dice you toss at once. The more dice you toss, the better chance you have at winning epicly and less chance you have of botching the roll - meaning the less chance you have of having to forgotten to take the safety off when you tried to quick-draw your pistol on the guy with the shotgun.
Then again, the better you can win at a roll, the harder you can fail - so if you have 10 dice (best you can have as a Mortal for any typical skill) and you botch with -9 successes, I'm going to just have lightning strike you. Regardless of the relevence to your task, you will be struck by lightning - simply because you failed THAT HARD.

arg-fallbackName="ArthurWilborn"/>
I don't have a problem with that, considering it's considerably more likely that you would actually be struck by lightning.

The Character Creation Sheets can be found here.
The Directory for Character Sheets you are looking for is
CWoD > Vampire > OTHER Related Vampire Sheets >Mortal

You can use a 2 Page, You Can use a 4 Page I don't give a fuck (but be warned, you might end up with lots of uncomfortable White Space on your sheet). I will designate one person based upon stats as the person who would have been promoted straight out of Bootcamp simply because of Leadership attributes, so if you want to go for that Archetype just know that there can only be 1 - this person will be FORCED into the 4 Sheet, simply because now you can keep a tally of your team and what things you all have on the longer sheet.

You can take any physical flaws that are not immediately able to have been corrected (you're in the Army, soldier! AIRBORNE OOYAH), such as Glasses with bad vision. All flaws must be ones capable of being suffered by a human, and must be RPed to full efficiency throughout the game - no"Enemy" flaw will be accepted, as it is irrelevant.

You ALL automatically get 1 Free Dot in Firearms, Melee, and Survival.
And under languages, please note "Tactical" - implying that you all understand somewhat tactical jargon and can follow orders. This includes signed orders, such as Flanking, Cover Fire, Numbers of Enemies, and so on (General, non-specific).

I will also designate one of you to know French and German to a "General" degree - this will be random, but the person I have to assign less points to so that you can know the languages will most likely get them.

----------------------------------------

POINT SPREAD!

You start with no Disciplines, no Gifts, and none of that shit. You're Mortal, you can only go with the basics.
6/4/3 for attributes, 11/7/4 for skills, 5 Backgrounds.
NO MORE THAN 3 before Freebie spending in any of the categories - including your given add-ons up top.

Having a Flaw gains you XP as per the Books. However, nothing supernatural-related. You're normal.
27 Freebie Points, with the spending as such:

Attributes 5 per dot, 10 for 4th dot, 15 for 5th dot.
Merits (see Book, varies by Merit. Limited to 2 Merits)
Abilities 2 per dot, 4 for 4th dot, 6 for 5th dot.
Backgrounds 1 per dot (Enhance Only - if no advancement, this is null)
Willpower 1 per dot (Max 6)

-----------------------------------------

Take the sheet, toss that bitch in PAINT, and use Filler. In the post, tell us a bit about them and their life.
Also, in a [SHOW MORE!] tag beneath the Character sheet, please make notations about your original spending and what you bought with your Freebies.
Just some Courtesy. xD
[showmore=SPOILER]One of you will be granted a special Enigma, if your Archetype is correct for the piece. Message me before you roll out your Freebies, as taking the Enigma will cost you 1/2 your free points to spend.[/showmore]

Played VtM for years on end, so yeh, D10 is sort of familiar :p

Oh and Nash! Believe it or not, but I once ended a 1 on 1 campaign in which I played and a friend GM-ed with performing a final action while plummeting to my death :D ;)
In that instance it was me shooting the final enemy 'wizard' an arrow in dah face while he was also up in the air and trying to slow down his fall :p . Then I fell and died. The end. Best campaign ever :p

Which books may consult for things like flaws & merits and different style backgrounds and all that jazz btw Hytegia? I'd reckon it's best to just stick to the core book?

arg-fallbackName=")O( Hytegia )O("/>
As long as the Merits and Flaws are mortal-esque and unrelated to the supernatural, you can use any book. But please provide a reference as to book and page number of merits if it is outside the core set.

Cool bits. I'll get right on making one.

Quick remark about the points and stuff though:

Are you making use of Virtues? And if so, do you want to give base points for it that translate into Humanity and Willpower (like regular VtM characters)? Or just ignore Virtues altogether and buy up WP with points and ignore Humanity seeing as how we're... human? ;)

Here's my bid for the leadership position. Consider this a reference sheet, I can transfer to a full sheet when needed.

http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u122/ArthurWilborn/?action=view&current=lukewilsoncharactersheet.jpg

(I'm a bit vague on nationality since I'm not sure which force our unit is attached to; it really doesn't matter much, though.)

Luke was raised in the backwoods and came from an isolationist family who believed that the war should have been avoided. However, the Wilsons are loyal to their country and will serve faithfully as long as they are needed. Luke strives not for victory or glory, but to keep himself and his men alive until the war is over.

Luke had almost completed his training as a motor mechanic and was looking forward to a satisfying and supportive career before he was drafted. He had drifted through school as a skilled and likeable student athlete, but he has learned more from his backwoods upbringing then his teachers. He enjoys camping and hunting, but is only moderately successful at them.

He has two cousins in the military service; one who works in Logistics for the allies and one who has been sent to be an adviser to the French resistance. They're often useful for getting that critical few more supplies in the right places. During his work in the countryside Luke rescued a small black lab named Spotter from a bombed-out house. While still a bit lean from his abandonment, he is quite loyal to his new owner.

Luke is gruff and simply spoken. His relaxed attitude makes him easy to talk to. This attitude can become strained, however, when dealing with foreigners whom Luke blames for starting up this whole mess.

You start with middle Humanity - simply because if you're doing monsterous bullshit it will go down significantly, but if you save people it will go up.

In this campaign, it will be more of a notation of alignment than anything - seeing as you're not going to become significantly more evil due to the loss of memory of being human (you are Human, After All)

Cool char Arthur :)
The character I had in mind has no leadership ambitions, so it suits me just fine.
If you like, Hytegia, I can assume the language role you had in mind. I've already taken 2 dots in languages and taken German, French and Dutch, which I will reflect on in my character description.

[showmore=Liam Schipper]Liam Schipper (Willem Schipper/ Wilhelm Shiffer)

[Subject to change pending GM info]
What would eventually be called the 'First World War' had only recently ended when Anje Manning and her newly wed husband Johan Schipper left everything they had built up in the Netherlands behind, and took a ship to Britain, where they hoped to build up a new life for themselves and the baby that was well on the way. Him marrying a German girl was heavily frowned upon by their family as well as the locals and they both hoped the English would be somewhat more forgiving.

Early youth for Liam was spent mostly moving from place to place. His father would repeatedly get fired and they'd have to find their luck elsewhere. He'd lived in so many different places throughout Great-Britain that by the time he'd reached his early twenties his accent was night on indiscernible. Add to that his parents' insistence that Liam spoke Dutch to his father and German to his mother and you were truly left with a full blend of languages.

During a steady few years spent living in one place (Liverpool at the time) Liam developed a skill for lip reading. His parents had a phase (one of many they had) in which they felt it was best to discuss Liam's punishment and behaviour somewhere secluded. They would go out onto the balcony and talk at length there. Unable to hear them, young Liam slowly managed to trace their lips forming words. Over the years this skill nearly faded into obscurity, until Liam joined the army and saw a renewed use for it in practice.

Not having much money to spend meant the living conditions were often quite poor. One result of this was the constant neighbourhood noise factor, of which the only truly positive outcome for Liam was a knack for shutting out the outside world when focussing on one particular thing. However, one thing to truly break his concentration and send him running is showing him one of those porcelain dolls - you know, the creepy looking ones; a photograph will do.
This fear stems from an early childhood exposure to a still motion picture about dolls as well as an aunt (one who isn't really an aunt) he was obliged to spend summer holidays with who had an attic filled with the bloody buggers.

In his teens Liam was a reasonably bright student, excelling at languages (of course), but also at literature. For a short while he was obsessed with old horror stories, such as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein et al. But boyhood fancies gave way to the need for a job. And so he finally decided to make a living out of something he was good at: accents. For two years straight he performed as a stand up comedian/ imitator and garnered a living as well as building up some obscure fame here and there (nothing major).
An ill-timed falling out with his parents coincided with the start of the second World War, after which he was adamant to enlist, leaving his old life, and England, behind.

Approved, Noth.
And, Approved Arthur.

You can all pick any nationality you want - as long as you're an Allied Alignment. The "Leader" must be American.
[showmore=Spoiler Reference]Just so you know how this first scene is going to be set up, it's going to be the Americans dropping in Operation Market Garden, and all other Allied Troops just happen to be in the same area.
If you all don't balls it up, the rest of you will be requisitioned into the American Platoon (seeing as Market Garden was a fuck-up and dropped everyone in all sorts of a mess, and the mission you will be sent on is of time importance).
Mainland-Europeans can be part of whatever military or resistance group they could scrounge up (The French Resistance, the Dutch Resistance, etc.) - British soldiers must be British and American Soldiers must be American.

The first scene will converge on Arnhem, so be ready to duck and roll through the first act of this game. (If you know any WWII history, you will know why I'm saying it. The rest of you are going to Google it anyways)[/showmore]

Oh, I forgot to mention:
First character submission with Firearms 4 will automatically be deemed "Sniper" as their specialty and be given Stealth 2 as a base, regardless of Stealth expenditure.

>.>

I hate being tired.

arg-fallbackName="Noth"/>
[showmore=In response to spoiler]Ha! When writing the character description I wanted to have my parents moving to GB from Arnhem, but then decided that the city didn't matter at all for the character background :p .

I should re-watch "A Bridge Too Far" to get into the right mood ;)[/showmore]
