Well.... Obviously... but it depends on how you decide where the line is between "it's ok to cause yourself harm with chemical X, but not chemical Y."
Being this is supposedly the board of Reason, I would assume for such an instance most people would require a sort of standard model for...

So scientists mixed up the doses of Ecstasy with Crystal Meth, whilst concluding that it badly damaged the brain/cause parkinsons...?

Seems relatively legit... jaw is firmly dropped.
Or have I been hoodwinked by fancy titles?
Well I imagine one of two things.
1) google (or whoever) smartly see's what sort of people would be visiting your site and taylors adds for them
or
2) they don't get many offers based on the discriminatory nature of the world and take the best they can
OR that's just how they roll
Wow wicked, thanks. I'm both interested in this, and about to study parts of it :D/ The BBC has some fantastic science documentaries/shows, I'm super jealous >.<
I think Prof Brian Cox also has "wonder of the universe" comming out soon as a sequel to "wonders of the solar system"
Now I must...
Of course he could be an exaggeration, some of what he says is "known" to be true, we know they used to waterboard, sleep deprive, play loud music etc.... We don't know for sure they told him to confess to things he didn't do, that's just his word really.
It's sad this place still exists though >.<

While his accounts could I guess be false, or exaggerated.... Seems like he is genuine and Guantanimo is a dodgy place....
Loving the sympathy, it is indeed a sad time. Unfortunately it's sure to get much worse as most of the couple of hundred missing are feared dead.
Good to see a swift reaction/response by the government.
I can assure you it's not normal >.<
The last such earthquake in NZ was a good 80 years ago, and Aus has been in a drought for the last 10 years (although the bushfire's in 2009 were pretty bad)
ChCh has been hit by 4-5 significant earthquakes in less than 6 months how ever >.<

Some drastic images about the ChristChurch earthquake. I feel it's my duty to post something here as a Kiwi...
Sad times :(
The glacier falling into the lake was pretty dramatic, and I think there's some video...

I'm not sure the validity of these images, although I wouldn't be surprised if they were the sturdiest built buildings in the affected area's, but I guess I'd offer this as "counter" evidence...
I don't quite understand the whole hating on people's "use" of animals. Vegitarians/Vegans claim we're murderers, but they don't go picket lions for "murdering" Gazelle... I mean yeah, we have a conciousness that allows us to draw logical conclusions and reason.
Here are my brief thoughts on...
Wow people suck at critical analysis and deciphering hyperbolic bull shit from fact.
The californian law SPECIFICALLY stated you could not essentially do anything that you can't do with alcohol (driving, work, public places etc.), and how many studies need to say it's no where near as harmful...
Yeah I felt pretty much the same to both of those.
The first thing I though was "AWESOME"... then immediately followed by immense scepticism, (which was only affirmed by reading the article), and then followed by the dread of how this would excite the conspiracy theorists.
You could use the same arguments for Alcohol or Tobacco or hell even pain killers or sleeping pills..... People aren't even considering making them illegal, and in places where it is legal (like amsterdam) the use of the substance DECREASED.... The point is, do people deserve to get fined, go to...
Thankfully scientific data and evidence doesn't really care whether you agree or not. Facts are facts, opinions and points of view don't change them.
Unfortunately for some reason we still live in societies that don't base their legislation/education about harmful substances on facts and evidence.

The fact that he gave bacterium an easier means of movement is proof of his love of his beings created in his image? That's a large false inference.
Also, "it is too improbable to have come about by chance"... You clearly don't...
