My field's psychology (BA, MA), with cognitive science (Ph D) to be added to the collection soon.

I noticed that at least one other person in this thread mentioned that they're studying psychology -- I'd be interested to know how many people here come out of that field, and were dragged into the whole atheism vs. religion thing as a result of trying to figure out how and why believers think the way they do, as was the case with me...

I actually want to go to school to study history and religion (mostly the history side of religion since I think they're all equally valid... which is to say all bupkis)

First to get this crazy fear of existence out of my head.

For me it was life experience. My wife has a chronic disease, my family told me that she has it because God wanted us to improve ourselves (or something).

However, I find the anthropological and psychological history behind religion fascinating.

I am just finishing my fourth year on my master of science in psychology. If everything goes as planned I'll be practicing psychologist next summer. Nice to see I have some colleagues in this forum.

I've got 1 semester + 1 week left on a BSc in Geology. Then I'm off to grad school.

I'm approaching the end of my BS in bioinformatics.

I started out thinking biochemistry/drug design, then bioengineering, now bioinformatics. I'm at the point there's no more changing now.

I imagine grad school is inevitable.. mostly because research is interesting and an undergrad bioinformatician really just maintains databases and runs basic software set-ups for biologists who don't know how to use computers >.<

This is probably a good place to find out how and why thinkers believe the way they do...
