Taking inspiration from this topic: http://forums.leagueofreason.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1660 (but without wishing to drag it off topic with posts about conspiracy theories) I thought I would create a 'What's the stupidest thing a Conspiracist has said to you?' topic.

I get quite a few unbelievably ignorant comments on youtube:

You can't be that stupid. You must be being paid to defend the official story. You appear to be literate and able to use the English language, therefore you can't, be such a blind blithering moron that can't look at the facts staring him in the face.

I love it! The only options in this 9/11 Truther's brain are the opposition are either stupid or being paid...

Well the gay club (I call them gay club, it's about 10-20 gay freshmen meeting in our kitchen every now and then) recently threw a perty and I talked to one of them. We were vociferously ranting about more and more police state measures being installed by the governments,... when we got to the topic of retina scans.
The guy said "You know what they can do with those? Read your mind!". That would be the stupidest conspiracy-like thing I've heard recently.

My grandmother once told me that I could change the world. This remains the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Others have told me this too. Instead of tinfoil hats, it's the smiley sunshine conspiracy. Who's laughing now grandma? The only thing you're changing now is the pH of the soil you're rotting in.

My grandmother once told me that I could change the world. This remains the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Others have told me this too. Instead of tinfoil hats, it's the smiley sunshine conspiracy. Who's laughing now grandma? The only thing you're changing now is the pH of the soil you're rotting in.

Gonna disagree with you there: you don't need to be in Time magazine to change the world.

I'd say changing the world is the atheist version of heaven. Do something that will make you immortal before you're part of the nitrogen cycle too.

Well, to be fair that sounds like a pastiche of several of the camps, although Auschwitz did apparently have a swimming pool. You see, the Nazis were busy with Holocaust denial during the Holocaust. One of the camps even had a children's opera composed and performed by prisoners. That camp might have had a petting zoo, since it also had fake shops and the prisoners lived in two and three-person dorm rooms. The overflow were all sent to Auschwitz to die... propaganda doesn't allow for overcrowding. :evil:

Stupidest thing a conspiracist has ever said to me? I'm sure it was a 9-11 Twoofer, they seem to be the dumbest of the bunch. Their conspiracy seems to involves tens of thousands of people, the governments of a dozen or more countries, billionaire bankers and random Jewish folks, and basically posits that the most powerful people in the world would need to create a giant deception to fool the rest of us, when in reality the most powerful people in the world don't really have to pay any attention to us.

Yeah, I know. But he maintained that it was built and kept for the inmates, as was every other facility that he listed.

He said that Auschwitz was, essentially, a resort for the use of the Jewish community. In reality, the "zoo" was two pens, one for foxes and the other for birds, and was used exclusively by the people running the camp.

Dude... you didn't need to selectively edit my post to make it look like I was a Holocaust denier. Like I said, the Nazis did various things to pretend that the camps weren't so bad, while they were systematically slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people at each of the other camps. Hell, that camp with the children's opera and dorms managed to kill 90% of the prisoners once their propaganda use came to an end.

Holocaust denialism is some nasty shit...
