What the hell phone should I get?!?!

arg-fallbackName="Your Funny Uncle"/>
I'm sure it's much better for Mac users, but on the PC iTunes is one of the most bloated and buggy piles of crap it's been my misfortune to use. It took ages to launch and regularly managed not to notice that my iPhone was connected, not to mention the process of synching the whole phone just to add one mp3 file which drove me mad. iTunes was the main reason I decided that there was no way I would replace my iPhone 3G with an iPhone 4 last year.

I think it took me once 3 hours to update itunes. No other program I know takes that long. If there was a program which could put music on my Ipod without Itunes I would use it.

35cl of Southern Comfort is equivalent to about 4-5 pints maybe, so yeah...
Meh, I always without exception thing everything is wonderful when I'm drunk, so if I can do that cheaply and without hangovers, then that's all the better. :D
I'm old and have been doing this since you were in diapers, so there's little that's cheap or easy about drinking for me.

I HAVE learned that drinking the more expensive stuff leaves me much less hung over.

Yeah, Windows and an Android phone let me instantly drag and drop files from my PC to my phone, without the stupidity and inefficiency of iTunes. I don't for the life of me understand how people can think that Apple software is worth a half a damn compared to good old efficient Windows and good new sensible Android.

Never had a pomme de pod so I don't know if it works, but there's GTKpod on linux. Apparently Banshee supports those devices too.

Buying a laptop soon and thinking of installing ubuntu on it but I just a half hour ago tried installing bashee on windows and it hasn't been a success. My Experience with banshee even on Linux has been a bit shaky.

I'm pretty sure we're talking about REAL operating systems, not those half-assed free toys that people play with when they don't care if their computer actually works or not when they need it to.

@Duvelthehobbit

I mentioned it because I thought you used Ubuntu :)

I use Deadbeef myself.

I should probably post something on-topic...

... and then I just bought the most expensive Android phone they sell. Say hello to my little friend!

Nice looking phone, with the exception of the brands plastered all over it...

Yeah, try saying that to the internet as it lols at you from its bash shell. ;)

And your new Android phone runs...

I use Amarok. I think it has support for ipod, though I don't think I've ever seen an ipod in my life :) What disappointed me is that they'd dropped support for Rio Karma, which is my choice for a player.

Joe, what phone is that exactly?

edit:

Yeah, which is why I slap a case or skin on the new phone as fast as I can, even if it just black. Avoids scratches, covers up the distractions.

As for the rest... My phone IS a toy, I wouldn't try to do anything real on a phone. And the Internet is a data-transfer system, it isn't doing much in the way of real computing.

I'm not burdening my system with otherwise superfluous KDE libraries, thank you ;)

I'm quite fond of KDE. Besides, what's the point of having quad core cpu with 8GB of ram if not to run some nice desktop environment? :)

tbh I miss WindowMaker a bit.

Not a toy.

Hah!

I will say that Samsung's interface is a bit lame, so swap it for launcherpro or GOlauncher EX (assuming it'll be running froyo or gingerbread).

I consider anything with the power to logically calculate and manipulate advanced information systems a tool - that includes my Droid.
Especially since I rooted it and installed Backtrack 5 for Pentesting on-the-go, and configured it where the screen basically fit the phone with the applications themselves.
I had my friend do the reformatting of the phone protocol - but the rest was fairly simple.

It depends entirely on your needs and requirements. Anything that doesn't have fruit on it, for a generic answer ;)

That rules out a banana phone
