What are you playing right now?

I'm playing through Alan Wake.

Replaying through the first 3 Silent Hill games. Damn if they aren't still the best thriller/chiller games ever made.
But the graphics! And in general the gameplay. It just feels so raw. I know it's great, but I have to compare to other games I could be playing and it doesn't hold up. It needs an update so people like me who missed them can enjoy them.

If you have a capable enough PC you can do something about the graphics. Also there was an HD "update" for SH2 and 3 on consoles but the way they cut corners on the games backfired.

So you haven't done Ep. 2? Then you're missing out. :)

Oh, and tell us where you got stuck and maybe we can help!

Nope. Only reason I played it in the first place was because my friend gifted the games to me on Steam. I suppose Ep. 2 is something I should try now that the Orange box physical copy is pretty cheap on Amazon, but I'd like to get through Ep. 1 first.

Anyway, I'm stuck at the part where you have to escort some friendlies through some pretty thick cross fire (Alyx is on a turret). I got through a couple of rounds well enough, but I'm at the point where an armored truck starts firing rockets at you. It wouldn't be too difficult if it weren't for the numerous platoons of foot soldiers they put in your way. I either get insta-fragged by the truck as I go all Rambo on the foot soldiers, or the they gang up on my position and doggy pile on me as I try not to get my ass thoroughly blow'd up.

Ah yes, I remember that bit.

I don't think I played on hardest setting, but it was still pretty hard.

I died a bunch of times, but I think I eventually worked out a pattern of the enemies, then I just waited for the right time.
I also made liberal use of the never-emptying rocket chest, even used a bunch of rockets on the soldiers.
When taking out the armored truck, I remember shooting a rocket straight up into the air (at the right time - pattern and all that jazz) while sitting behind cover, and once the rocket was well in the air, I jumped out from cover and held the laser aim on the truck.

I got done playing all the traditional games in the series except for 1 and Quest for Booty. I really liked Going Commando, but the Groovitron in ACIT + the frenzy of disco dancing penguins in 720p detail puts a smile of satisfaction on my face.

I've been meaning to import an EU copy of Quest for Booty since it's download only here in the US. :x

R&C1 is okay, but mostly for story. The weapons didn't level or modify, and they were more 'realistic' than 'ballstacularly explodey' as I deem to label the later titles. Plus there was that "all of this is new and foreign" approach, like extended, dumbed down tutorials and a slow difficulty progression, which is uncomfortable if you've played any other edition beforehand, as I did. Don't get me wrong, still a fun game. It does eventually get pretty hard (oh yeah, you rarely increase your nanotech), and the environments are still fun to explore, puzzling and evocative. I simply believe they had some flaws to iron out and did a great job doing so with 2 (my first title and imo the best one).

Anyway, sadly, I am not playing anything at the mo, but I've made a relative ass-load of money working so I'm cool with it

I approve of the gameplay. Your character in the game isn't an elite commando or a martial arts expert. I like that the melee sucks and the shooting is inaccurate as all fuck, because that heightens the suspense for me.

I've been playing "Warloc: Master of the Arcane".

It's a half-price (but new) game on Steam. Turn-based strategy, on a map that looks like a total ripoff of Civ 5 - which isn't bad, in my view.

The funny thing about this game is that I have sooo many things about it that I'd like to see improved, and even things I dislike, but I still enjoy the game immensely. I'm thinking a future full-priced sequel could be a real hour-killer with longevity.

Before that, I was playing "From Dust", which I got a deal on. It's an interesting God-game, somewhat in the vein of Populous 3. Was really nice.

Counter-Strike Global Offensive BETA. I'm one of the few lucky ones who have access to the BETA, and it's quite good. Quite good indeed.

It's still very buggy, and it's lost a lot of the original feel of CS 1.6, but it definitely has a lot of potential.

And now I'm playing Diablo 3.

Edit: And now I'm not playing Diablo 3, as the server coughed me off.

Thanks! I didn't know that trick with the rocket launcher. BRB...

Np, let me know how it goes.

It's not a miracle cure, but it saves you a couple of moments of exposure in the open.

started playing Half-Life: Source. Bit annoying because it does not do automatic saves. Still need to start HL2 Episode 1 and still playing Borderlands now and then.

About to start The Darkness II... the first one was pretty good and I remember liking the comic book 15 years ago or whatever.
