There are so many problems in the world right now that are more important than this one.
Actually, I disagree, all the issues in the world are equally important and quite often wrapped up together in a basic fundamental problem
Lack of respect for peoples individual private rights, lack of respect for our environment... just plain old LACK of RESPECT in general.

Do gays really think they are the only ones who get looked funny at by the police when the police are called on a domestic dispute?
And that is my point, no one should be looked at funny. Not gays, blacks, women, immigrants, disabled....ect etc no one.
equal rights are supposed to be equal.

Sure... and not-stupid people understand that more than one problem can be dealt with at a time. So either you aren't an not-stupid person, or your being intentionally dense in order to dismiss a problem that doesn't affect you personally.

I mean, just imagine if the world ran on the stupidity of what you just said. Someone could be beating your ass on the street, and a cop car could drive by and one of the cops would ask if they should stop, and the other cop would point out that there's other bigger problems in their precinct so no one can stop to help you. We'd pick one worst illness and medicine would devote all of its time to it, and tough luck if you manage to drag your beat-down ass to a hospital. Forget about a court prosecuting your attacker, there is a mass-murderer needing to be convicted and all the courts are busy dealing with that one case.

That logic is flawed, how can the environment earn your respect? how can animals earn it?
It makes much more sense to grant people/things a certain level of respect which they can then lose through their behaviour as opposed to the other way around.

I would say this is a very well thought out post.

I appreciate this forum much more now than I did when I signed up for it. I find it somewhat informative. I learned about a few things I never knew about before. I dont know why I have a time limit on my posts though..

If this is going to regress into a flogging session, I will choose not to be a part of it. This could be one case where dissociative behavior could be seen as the wise choice.

I should have stated my position a little more clearly. I will choose not to be a part of the flogging session (as much as determinism will allow)......

@Nom_de_Plume

I know that's a parody, but isn't that what effectively republican/right wing women say? It's baffling to my why women would support limiting their freedom. But I tend to not understand people :?

I got a weird impression from this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but... Are you saying that disrespect is the norm?

And are you saying that it's ok that the police gives people funny looks?

Sure, if they came to your apartment, found you tarred and feathered, with goat's head halfway up your ass, singing "The Sound of Music", I'd understand if the police officers might have problems showing the professional courtesy that one would expect from, well, professionals, but you make it sound as if it's ok that they look at people funny if those people are gay, black, latino, etc.

Again, correct me if I'm wrong...

Been a while since I been on this thread. I now have cheapest internet at 10 mbps, going to upgrade to 100mbps. Nice to live in a town that has cable internet, walking distance to a grocery, and dollar tree if needing a few household items. Most of all living in modern apartment that is going to get grant to put $70,000 in each unit sometime starting in 2017. When I was last here life was bad, got worse for a while. Decided to take action. By the way since I am posting four years later on this thread, my choice is Jill Stein (Green Party) be smart, vote in your best interest. I am. :)

Sorry, I know this is off topic. There was a time in my life where for many years my life just wasting away in the mid-west wastelands. No woman, no jobs, no nothing. I know it sucks there. I think you would be much happier if you checked out Florida's Gulf Coast. Have you ever worked before or are you just a free loader? What work have you done? If you can give me evidence that you are dependable, I might be able to help you with a good job working in a lab in St Pete. Or you could help yourself to get one.

Get the fuck out of there. And go as far as you can.
