The stupidest thing a creatonist has ever said to you

"I would never get an abortion because I don't want to get cancer."

Now to make this argument all the more insane she said this to me WHILE SMOKING.

I laughed and walked away because I couldn't think of a response.

I quote,
"The inscriptions of pagan Sumeria, which deny Allah (Allah is beyond that) and assert that living things came to be through an evolutionary process, form the backbone of the religion of Darwinism"

from http://www.wireclub.com/Forums/ViewTopic.aspx?ForumId=647371&ParentId=834234

although you can go to any internet forum and find something equally as nuts.

Oh yeah, and I forgot the one where a guy on youtube says Darwinism has to be wrong as it does not explain the evolution of supernatural beings like the djinn!!!

Same guy says we can not be evolved from the monkey as we have no tails !!!!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!

The moon for instance is heavily pockmarked on one side only and the craters indicate the heavy bombardment of that body lasted only about 20 minutes. What was the cause? We do not know.

In fact, retrograde motions are better explained by a cursed universe subject to disorder (entropy) than by ANY other model.
He was fun to read

I had a bunch of awesome ones from Nephie, but the first time I realized he was never going to even give consideration to the other side of the argument I just deleted all his messages out of rage. I regretted it minutes later, because, as I said, there were some gems in there. One in particular was about information being nonexistent anywhere except in the human mind, and I actually laughed while reading it. There was another where he said that the "aether" was denser than anything else in the universe, and I asked how then did the Voyager probes make it through without any problem, and his response was so insane I had to stop reading for a few minutes just to comprehend what he was getting at.

Shame, there were many hilarious quotes in those messages alone.

Okay... two of them --

One was by a representative of a church group who wanted the heliocentric model of the solar system removed from the school science curriculum. Basically, this was when I was living in the Dallas area, and this one group was appealing to a local school board and there was this open forum wherein they were trying to put forth a motion to have heliocentrism removed in favor of the "Biblically correct" geocentric model. They also wanted to make sure to get rid of anything and everything that was explicitly part of the "heliocentric conspiracy" -- i.e. anything that supported the heliocentric model of the solar system. And yes, this happened to include Newtonian gravitation. Yes, they seriously wanted gravity not to be taught. Since it was an open forum, I decided to take part and argue on the side of... well... reality. My boss at the time, also got really incensed when he heard about it and told me to take the day off and "Rip those bastards apart." So among the various approaches, people used the usual tactics of playing the victim and the "one-sidedness" of the evil scientists.

Then came one lady on the side of that church group who took the approach of politicizing the issue. So she went off on this idiot path of linking to "communism" and "Chairman Mao" every which way a la Glenn Beck. One argument was that Newton's Law of Gravity must not be taught to kids because it encourages socialism by speaking of the classlessness of the planets and how Earth isn't privileged by God. I can't say I ever saw that in the equation, but whatever.

The ABSOLUTE BEST part, though... was the part about how the stars all have Arabic names, and we use Arabic numerals, which thereby proves that the scientific community was in, league with Al Qaeda and caused 9/11. Quote -- "If not for the evil false science of astronomy, there would be 3000 men and women still alive in New York today."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other one came from the legendary Chuck Missler. Infamous throughout as "The Peanut Butter Man." He was doing some open-air discussion in the quad at my university to try and disprove "evolution." At the time, I had no knowledge of the fellow, and I only came across the Peanut Butter thing later (well, Youtube and such didn't exist back then anyway).

One of his problems with the evolutionary model is that it allows for the possibility of life on other planets besides Earth. In order to do this, apparently evil evolutionary scientists want you to believe that water exists elsewhere in the universe, since water is essential for life. "Evolutionists" make up the story that comets, for instance, are made up of water ice, and peanut butter man shows that this isn't possible and the flood happened as the Bible said. He starts off with an argument in this form --

1. The Earth is the only body in the universe that has water.
2. It does not have enough water on its surface to flood all the way up to the highest point.
3. Therefore, the only way for the flood to have happened is for the water to have come from an outside source and then be removed afterwards.
4. This is exactly what the Bible says happened to cause the flood (e.g. "Gates of Heaven opened")
5. Therefore the Bible is irrefutably correct and the flood really happened.

In order to prove premise 1, he goes back to the notion of comets being made of water ice. In order to demonstrate that comets are not made of water ice he did the following AMAZING experiment.

He took an ice cube and left it out in the sun. This ice cube melted as you might expect leaving behind a puddle of water. However, what did not happen is that it did not form a tail like that of a comet. Since comets have a tail and a melting ice cube left in the sun does not, this proves that comets and ice cubes are made up of different things entirely.... therefore comets have no water and only Earth (and apparently Heaven) does.

The most annoying probably was
"Sos ateo? pero si eras tan buena persona..." because my creationists speak Spanish, translated it would be "You are an atheist? But you were such a nice person..."
Extremely offensive, my response was something like "Thanks, so were you until you said that"
It's similar to those who say that without God, you cannot be moral (in fact, it's the very same idea)... to hold that kind of misanthropic ideas of humanity... That's too much

The other one that I have no idea how to respond was "You seem to believe that logic is the solution to everything, but you cannot prove that logic works using logic"
Apparently he believed that that would be an argument for his god... I'll probably never understand what was that supposed to mean...

A classical one: "But it's just a theory, It never became a law" (about evolution)
A response I like for this important concern is "go find a mathematician and tell him that group theory and game theories are "just theories" (you know how it should be said)... If the shock doesn't kill him, he should probably spit on you or at least insult you"

And finally, I met one that calls every religion that's not her own "idolatry", "cult", "business" or "satanism"

arg-fallbackName="Vicarious"/>
Apparently my father is an expert at knowing everything there is to know about...Satan

"Can Satan corrupt religion, Dad?"
"Yes, but our church is the only TRUE church"
"Can Satan corrupt Scientific data, Dad?"
"No"

Or how people try to say "Christianity isn't a religion!"

Lol! I was expecting an "Yes" since apparently scientific data doesn't match up with the holy Word.

It came as a bit of a surprise to me as well. so according to him, everyone is better off going the way of science since you have a better chance of "un-corrupted" data.

Another funny quote...is from my mother

"I don't believe in evolution! God made man in his image, and god is not a monkey." ( I wanted to find a picture of the old man god, and photoshop in a monkey's head, oh well!)

Or she was trying to prove Noah's Ark, and said:
"Well maybe they burned the ark"
"Why would they burn it?"
"Because of all the poop"

While both evils [child trafficking and teaching about Islam] are deplorable, Islam and the teachings found in the Quran are the worser of the two evils because as one is an attack of the innocent physical body, the second is an attack of the human spirit.

I posted one of my favorite lines about evolution on a Youtube video, To deny evolution is to deny a direct observation. It's denying the sky is blue while refusing to look up. I got the following as a response
the sky isnt blue you silly person you, its clear and how is evolution a direct observation when have you obsevred a monkey give birth to a human or an animal evolve . evolution is not a true science! science are things you can test, observe its called empirical science which is true science , you believe animals did something millions of years ago that they never do now, that's change into another kind of animal then you have more faith than i do.

Yes, the sky isn't blue.......of course......I think a part of me died that day.

It may just be because I'm a history buff, but I think the most angst-provoking statement ever made to me was thus (paraphrased):

"The Roman Empire under Christianity was able to conquer all of Europe, but then the Atheist philosophy of Epicureanism took hold and Rome sunk into moral decay, god withdrew his favor, and it collapsed."

To this day I still don't know where to begin...

Start by switching around "Christianity" and "Atheist philosophy of Epicureanism"
You can then switch out the atheist philosophy with the religion they had.
