THE BURDEN OF PROOF

Anyone ever been spanked by doing something they were told not to do? As a child I was spanked a bunch of times. We existed in heaven with God before we were born. We came from eternity and placed into finity. We will return back to eternity from where we came. Think of hell as the consequence(spanking) for not living your life as it was intended to be lived. It's a very superficial analogy but it is true. God is not love if He forces you to choose heaven. If you want to choose to not listen to reason then that's just fine.

Do you realise how disgustingly immoral what you just said is?

How can I be punished for living my life how I want. Nobody owns me, and no one can punish me for not living my life the way that they intended it.

I mean would you be justified in torturing your children because they didn't become a doctor when they grow up like you intended? No. Not in a billion years. Just because you brought them into the world doesn't mean they are your private property to manipulate as you please. Similarly just because God supposedly gave me life, doesn't give him the right to try to force me to live it in accordance with his intentions and then punish me for not living up to them.

This is hideous, totalitarian, immoral bullshit.

I was spanked as a child. I wasn't spanked for eternity though.

How could you be spanked for eternity by a finite parent? You think that it's not fair because eternity is a long time? IN ETERNITY THEIR IS NO TIME!!!!
So when you say that an infinite punishment for finite crimes is not fair or just, you have totally missed the point. Your soul existed before your body was created. Your soul infinitly exists.

You missed the point of the penalty for sin. If you went before a judge for murder and said that you're sorry and won't do it anymore, do you think that the judge will let you off the hook?

It's just a realization of the existence of sin. If you believe you will not be judged for violating the law of God then you are in denial.

No one owns you? No one owns me either! However since I have given my life to Chirst, God does own me as I have been adopted into His family. It's not really that He owns me in the way your probably thinking. Rather I owe Him my life for what he has to offer. If I don't give my life over to Him then He can't lead my life in the right direction.

How does one spend an eternity in Hell, or Heaven for that matter, if there is no time there? Methinks this is yet another example of Joseph's vocabulary failing him. Eternity isn't timeless, it's everlasting, it's unending time.

Exactly wrong again. One wonders how you can achieve such an accurate rate of wrongness.

P.S. Please address Hackenslash's posts, Joseph.

Your inability to understand the point is your problem.

Cherry picking definitions is silly.

Show your evidence for souls

Eternal is no beginning and no end. Therefore there is no time in eternity. I am afraid my vocab is just fine. Maybe you lack the comprehension of a timeless existence?

I am working on a reply to hackenslash. I have already pointed out my internet access is limited. There are days that go by when I don't ever get to log on.

Patience friend.

No, but the judge won't send you to prison forever for your crime. Neither is not believing in something comparable to murder.
It's just a realization of the existence of sin. If you believe you will not be judged for violating the law of God then you are in denial.

No. Denial is when you encounter a fact and then refuse to believe or accept it. You don't say someone is in denial when they don't believe in the tooth fairy.

That's some lovely fluffy nonsense you just came out with...

sin exists...the tooth fairy does not. there is a difference there.

Eternal is no beginning and no end.

No, it is a state of time without end. It is a concept, not an actual thing.
Therefore there is no time in eternity.

No, therefore there is unending time. I understand if it's difficult to wrap your head around, but let me try this; when you finally shift into the post-life dimension, are you going to be frolicking amongst your family and friends, your heroes and saviours while sinners stew in a pot of boiling pus? How does one cuddle a favourite auntie when there is no time? No time, no actions. Infinite time, infinite actions. Is it backwards month where you are?
I am afraid my vocab is just fine.

There are some risible holes in it; I just poked one and all this yucky stuff dribbled out.
Maybe you lack the comprehension of a timeless existence?

No, my imagination is vivid. Your understanding of many, many words and terms is flawed.
I am working on a reply to hackenslash.

I look forward to it.

First of all let me congradulate you on your Webmaster position.

Time without beginning or end is the definition of timeless. A state of time sinifies the existence of time. In order for time to exist it must begin. The universe had a beginning of time and matter.

Words with the suffix '-less' usually means 'without'. Shirtless for example means without a shirt.

Time without beginning or end is not timeless - I do not think this is an accurate term. There are words or combinations of words that do imply time without beginning or end 'eternity' springs to mind, or 'an infinite span of time'.

However, timeless to me implies 'without time' i.e; a realm in which time does not exist.

You and anyone else with a working understanding of English.

I like how you wiegh in with your disaproval and give no explanation as to why. I guess that would be called a baseless dismissal then.

Like whatever you wish, it doesn't change the fact that you're trying to use timeless to mean something it doesn't.

Ta.
Time without beginning or end is the definition of timeless.

Timeless is not, however, the definition of eternity. You are asserting that eternity is timeless, but it isn't. Check the definition of eternity anywhere you like, look up its etymology. T'aint hard, sugar.
A state of time sinifies the existence of time.

...and an eternity is a conceptual unending era of time. If your Heaven is without time (timeless), there can be no actions (no laughing, no frottaging).

You can't have it both ways. Although doublethink is one of the prerequisites of some faiths, I suppose.

I'd be interested to know which denomination you are, of course, don't feel you have to divulge that nugget. It's just nice to know which of the 30,000+ I'm up against.
In order for time to exist it must begin. The universe had a beginning of time and matter.

Your Heaven (and God too) is outside the universe, so there are no boundaries; time-wise or otherwise.
So your Heaven is eternal (unending age) yet somehow without time (timeless)? Is it one, the other, or both?

The burden of proof is on your shoulders... fire away!

Let me ask what you mean when you say the word baseless?

Do you mean without base? Or do you mean a base without a beginning or end?

Delicious irony
