I think you intentionally or unintentionally challenged the entire membership to post a contest of witty snips against Lucy (or specifically, austalopithecus and his incomplete remains) no? I'd live to see a contest spanning a few pages to show deserved anit-australopithecus wit.;)

To be completely fair, I'm uncertain of the etymology of troll (aside from Tolkein). It could be literally Trolls (built as the same substance as evil trees and allergic to sunlight - but on that count, why not orcs or goblins?) or in fact, an abreviation for Patrolling, and those vigilantes who turn to policing the internet. Mind isn't made up, actually.

That association is just a nifty coincidence.
The real term is derived from a fishing technique. Trolling in fishing is a technique in which you manually pull the line through the water, leading the fish to believe the bait is the real-deal and bite down.
Trolling on the internet is the same thing. You're fishing for emotional responses.

Yet it seems still, given this etymology, the proper association should be baiting.

Like most undefinable internet jargan, I assume it is a jumble of various meanings from policing, to baiting, to being fictional. Or so would be my guess. ;)
