i refuse to believe he is dead until they release those DNA samples to independent labs..

i want to see the clustal X, and ANNERP alignments for that match as well!

While not becoming an Osama Truther, this is a reasonable (altough almost imposible) request.

"We killed him"
How do we know it was him?
"We took DNA samples"
Can we have the DNA samples?
"Sure, here you go"
Are this the actual samples you took?
"yeah!"
How can we be sure? You threw the body into the sea.
"Fuck yeah we did!"
Then how can I be sure?
"I swear on the bible"
........ This is koolaid isn't it?
"You can never know"

oh you can be sure that hes dead. There is a chance he didn't die just now but hes dead. After all, they can't afford to take a risk of him popping out on the screen again.

By the way did they really throw his body into the sea? what the hell?

As I understand it, it was more than simply shoving him out of the side of a helicopter. Though, that wouldn't be all that surprising. Rather, I think he was given a 'proper burial', whatever that may consist of. Additionally, it would've been a bad idea to bury the body as it could risk the place of his burial becoming some form of extremist shrine.

That said, the whole out at sea thing makes me a bit suspicious. I would've felt happier if we had seen him dead first, but I hear that's illegal within the Geneva convention (more information required). However, I fear these suspicions come more from watching too much Hollywood, rather than anything credible. Therefore, I'm of the opinion that dead or not - it doesn't really matter that much because he's effectively been dead for years.

I'm glad we got him, but doubt it'll do much to slow terrorism. I am of the mind that, from our Middle East wars to our dealings with Israel, the US is creating, not combating, terrorism.

Stay tuned for reprisals. :(

So it begins.

But in seriousness, I was also disappointed by those people fervently celebrating his death. It is good in that it will likely be a catalyst (excuse) to get the US military out of there sooner.

Obama wouldn't have made that statement if there was even a chance Bin Laden was still alive. If Bin Laden made a video featuring this morning's newspaper it would be a crippling blow to Obama's credibility and ratings. He would instantly become almost certain to lose the next election.

That's a very good point, my paranoia has subsided.

Al-Qaeda's #2 guy probably will take his place. Some guy named Ayman al-Zawahiri, who has been involved in terrorism a bit longer. From what I understand, he was involved in the assassination of Sedat in Egypt.

Do you think they'll show a picture of bin ladin dead?

I heard they were considering it, but they also worry that it might seem like gloating and thus inflammatory.....Like the US hasn't been gloating anyway.

I see. As a skeptic, I just want to make sure that OBL is really dead. You know, no proof, then it's not true or at least it might not be true. :) Besides, if it's too gruesome, imagine, games/movies/cartoons show more violence, and not to mention graphic novels. :) As to gloating and inflammatory... I don't know. :/ If you've done something that's worth being proud of, then gloat all you want, you've earned the right to. :)
