I'm not going to steal your wallet IRL - and the only time I have ever entered a building without permission was when I was being mauled by zombies. >.>
And, one time, I entered on one of the earlier servers because the inside looked PIMP and it now shapes the way I think of building structure interriors.
I repair my rude entrees.

I odn't condone theft anyhow, but just that if you didn't lock it you shouldn't be suprised.

And, CEB, you would save more RAM by just putting in the No-Destruction Plugin and just allowing Creepers and TNT for trap-doors and making mob killers.

no it's not going to use less RAM,

I've been working with MineCraft client-side source coding, and have found some pretty interesting things to make a pack for. I'll probably release it in a couple of weeks if I get around to it.
Mainly, I'm trying to replicate different effects found in other MineCraft client-side exploit tricks - such as when you Sneak your name disappears. Also there's a few exploitable loops that can be used to replicate blocks by continuing to hold the block in your inventory after you have tossed it, therefore multiplying anything you toss.

I'm going to post the exploitable areas in the coding on the MineCraft forums, as well as a small client for all of everyone to enjoy.
Oh, and I put the LeagueOfReason in the splash messages over a bloodstained MineCraft logo.
I wonder what I should call this pack?

Partly motivated by this thread, I got back into the game and am a lot better at it now.

Does all of the LoR regulars use a single server? This wasn't particularly clear to me from what I read in this thread.

A few of us are hanging out on this server:

Are you sure? I'm using the Yogbox mod and can get onto Ceb's server just fine.

There's a difference here -
Yours is a client with a mod.
Mine is a client designed specifically for exploiting Multiplayer servers.

And I won't be able to connect simply because people will start banning me because I can now fly, run over9000 blocks per second, and one-hit every block.
Also, a mode where you now hide your name and exploiting a duplication error.

Oh, I used the League of Reason in the Splashes.

As they should, your only goal with that client is to annoy other people (it seems that way, please elaborate how that will help people on the servers, if it's to build things etc faster then there already are plugins that do that.)

I'd ban you in a heartbeat even if you were my best friend.

Instant mining a metric asston of ores and duplicating them, then building extremely fast?

For every "BLERG" you put, I can say "BLAH!"
:D

Anyhow, I just installed the Zeppelin Mod...
And now my Airships can fly.

My life is complete.

So, why are you making a client that "helps" you mine a metric asston of ores, and duplicating them, and makes you build extremely fast.

When there already exist plugins that lets you do that?

There's empty maps, where you can fill what blocks you want, there's a invedit that works in mp, there's speed plugs that helps you move faster etc.

So what's the point behind your client?

Griefing?

This is like asking why a hacker posts any other exploit online.
:I
In many cases, it's just because they're REALLY REALLY bored. In others, they were prodding around in the coding and found out "Hey, I can do this!
and then they do it.
And, of course, the combination of the two.

I'm making a Client that should work regardless of the Servers' settings on many things based upon the output of data.
Why?
Because I'm bored and because I can.

If I was going to use this power for evil, would I have openly posted it around? I just told you that I'm going to release it in a few weeks, maybe.

Hackers posts exploits in order to get attention, and "street cred" within certain circles, where being able to do something equals the right to do it.

Although, there's a caveat to that, and that is if you make the program as a way to make sure Notch see the flaws in the server code.

You are bored, and wanted some excitement, using it for evil, well sure isn't that what it is all about? isn't it about you messing with a set of rules that a server has for your own amusement / excitement ?

Sure you could be using it for good, but there already are mods out there that let you to that, with of course the permission from the mod/op of the server.

It's not like you expressed your intention of " Hey, let's make a really interesting mod that people will enjoy, instead of a program that is made for the purpose of messing with servers, by making you be able to play outside of the set rules of said servers. "

Oh wait.

Have to say I'm a bit disappointed.

Nope.
Your media-based preconceptions are noted.
People make money and run businesses based off of penetration testing. Some may, yes - but they get payed horrendous amounts of money by companies to break them and give a security evaluation.
Some may, but a majority of it is to gain legitimate income.

There is always a logically exploitable means of ruining anything.
And it's not in the Server Code. These are all client-side exploitable means. Things that alter output data onto the server.

Derp.

Oh, google the Term White Hat, then be enlightened.

I was bored.

It was more of: "I wonder what I could do with Minecraft?"
And then I saw the logical errors between client-server association.
How about I just play with these and make a valid client that works around that logic?

Me releasing it to the intertubes is just my benefit to mankind as a whole - because then they will have to fix the logical errors or the entire system will be doomed to the Client-side exploit logic.

Chaotic Good is not the most pleasant place to be - but it gets shit done.

Considering the client isn't exactly open source... how do you get any relevant info on it? I mean, all I've done is tweaking some language files, and some image files that are wide open inside minecraft.jar. Other than that and the resources folder there isn't really anything obvious.

My experience is limited in the field of programming, but I can see some exploitable logical errors in the way that the scripting is done -
Either I will release it, or simply derp around an it will go to the bottom of my "Projects" folder, along with the LOR family photo, the Hacktivism Series, and my Study Guide for my Advancement Exams. xD
