Infuriatingly stupid atheists

We have a thread about Creationists being idiots but lately, I've found an influx of stupefyingly idiotic atheists around the interwebs. Not just stupid, but actually stupid at a creationist level, employing similar tactics.
And before anyone asks no, they're not creationists in disguise.

So here's the first quote:
Agnostic = I cannot know. THEREFORE you cannot BELIEVE. Therefore, you DON't believe. lol. It's such a simple concept.

Apparently, this guy has never heard of the (rare) agnostic theists/deists.

And the same person:
Agnostic = not believing
Atheist = denying with 100 percent certianity.

Apparently he's never heard of Richard Dawkins.

Well... this is the second wave of stupid atheists. We're the first wave, obviously. At least as seen by the professional theologians and philosophers, we (including Dawkins and Hitchens) are a bunch of ignorant twits who should shut up and leave it to the professionals.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

You don't need to be smart to be an atheist. You can be retarded as fuck, but as long as your simple paradigm has you lacking a faith in a deity or the supernatural, then you're an atheist. You don't have to be well-reasoned nor rounded. You don't have to actually know what the hell you're going on about.

To the OP:

As far as the first bit goes, I can't blame someone right off the bat for lacking understanding of these concepts that usually take time for many newly minted atheists to understand. Especially with the recently convoluted atheist vs agnostic BS. Hell I just recently heard it explained as to how agnosticism applies to theism in a way that made sense to me about a week ago (In a bionicdance vid). So up until recently, you could call me about as stupid as that person.

The second bit makes it clear how far off their understanding is. Maybe you could try explaining it to them?

Some genuinely stupid atheists that do share some rather dogmatic ideas? "Black Atheists of Atlanta"

Look them up. I dare ya.

I've dealt with internet atheists who are just as close-minded as the theists they vehemently attack. Quite frankly, I'm pissed off. These people are indirectly representing me.

Theists argue that atheism is a form of faith, and while this is completely untrue, some of these atheists I've met are border-line fundamentalist. They are 100% sure that there is no god, and I'm not okay with that. I am a lover of science first, and an atheist second. Should the evidence go against my beliefs, I will abandon them.

You should almost get a temp ban for posting that... sweet SATAN!

This may not be true of all atheists and I applaud your honesty.

But as an aside question....... What beliefs do you currently hold that could be considered 'going against my beliefs'? Do you care to expand on this line of reasoning any further? If not, then I would TOTALLY understand.

I can't believe no one here has heard of them before... But I can understand that rational atheists that do know about them kinda don't mention them for obvious reasons.

I agree, you don't need to be smart. What is fairly strange though is that they'd be close-minded and subject themselves to dogma. Because as far as I'm concerned, there's an extremely good reason to do that if you're a theist/deist, but I can't for the life of me see a reason to do that if you're an atheist.

You don't need to be logical, either.

You don't need to be, true, but there's no reason not to be. (Whereas for theists, there often is.)
That's why I can bear illogical and dumb theists but an illogical and dumb atheist annoys me.

I suppose you can believe anything for stupid, illogical, unrational reasons. You can even believe that the Earth is round (well, obloid sphere) or that the sky is blue for idiotic reasons. The only difference here is that though that is a possibility for atheists, it's a certainty for theists.

The only answer to infuriatingly stupid atheists is the same as the answer to infuriatingly stupid theists; to educate them.

Yeah, well... they made a big splash for a few weeks, and then started going on about the evil white man's science and how homosexuality is an unnatural white man's conspiracy, and they sunk like a stone.

isnt there an argument to be had by saying for you to get outraged by an atheists ignorance is playing to the theist argument that atheists are a distinct group with ideology uniting them.
I dont think that is true, so ignorant atheists dont bother me - it demonstrates that the only thing that we have in common is a non belief in gods.

What, no mention of The Amazing Atheist?

Well, okay, maybe he's not quite infuriatingly stupid, but he can be quite infuriating.

Amazing Atheist, thunderf00t, and the rest of them can shove it as far as I'm concerned. They always take a platform and use it to push an anti-theist message that doesn't represent the views of the majority, more than an outspoken Minority.

Take Draw Muhammad Day for example. I hosted it on my Facebook page as well, and received well over 1000 rants and Darth threats - so many I had to ask my bro admin to step in and help me reply to it all. Yet I kept with the point of Draw Muhammad Day by telling every single one of them that it wasn't an anti-Islam day, but an anti-"We're going to kill you for depicting the Prophet" day.

A few actually GOT THE POINT and one actually submitted a very respectful picture of Muhammad. Which I shared.

Never in the ENTIRE debacle did I flip it to "Teh internet iz were religins cum to die hurrr." I never used it to flip the table on Muslims or Islam - though some of the submissions I posted were funny as Fuck in their own right. Then again, I'm not an atheist.

I actually quite like TheAmazingAtheist, I agree with most of what he says, and he can be really funny sometimes. He's an entertainer and he admits it publicly - it's a good show which I mostly agree with.
