In a bit of a jam here...

It has a bit of a reputation... Although tbh I think Hull has a worse one in terms of being a bad place to live, and I've always got the impression that London's East End is worse in terms of crime.

Birmingham is fine, it's just it's far too big for my tastes. I like manageable cities that aren't vast and complicated. That said the centre of Brum around the Museum and New Street is actually pretty awesome, and then of course you have the Sea Life Centre and the Bull Ring where you can buy anything in the world :D

Also, given that I live so close to Birmingham I'm paranoid I have their outrageous accent :?

Only thing I can think of is couchsurfing as a temporal means of living (http://www.couchsurfing.org/)
They can also help you get to know people, this is nice people (generally)

Hope this helps. And good luck

I hope I didn't come off as overly negative, but I guess I might still be a bit bitter remembering that time when a customs agent almost sent me back home after a ten hour flight and an hour waiting in the 'everyone else line' because I was an outrageous illegal Canadian alien at 5 am G time. I had to answer questions about my personal, sex life and so on. In the end my daughter was the colateral that let me get through the gate. Apparently Australians are the biggest illegal alien threat there, you know. ;)

Hope it goes well my friend. :)

Nasher, good news is I have an grand aunt there, which means I won't have to pay for a hotel, but also means I get to know the Christian side of my family more.

australopithecus awesomeness... I've always wanted to buy anything in the worlds! In all seriousness, I really need a new monitor.

Private_slim, thanks I'll definitely check that out when I get back. These things help me out a lot..

Andiferous, yeah I had a similar experience with Canada, except they actually refused me entry, bastards! So yeah I completely sympathise, don't worry I didn't take it badly ^^

Maybe we ought to start petitioning the Queen about that since, technically, she runs all three of us. :D

Meh, the Queen doesn't care, she's the Monarch version of a deist God. She's just there doing nothing of any importance.

Birmingham is like any other city, it has its good and bad parts. The accent may well drive you insane though.

I realise I'm a little late to this but with your skill set you might want to take a look at Codemasters (computer game company) as their offices are in Warwickshire, not ridiculously far from Birmingham (again, depending where in Birmingham).

Codemasters is in Leamington if I remember rightly, so depending on where outside Birmingham and what train you get it's about 30 mins to an hour commute so not far at all. Also there's another games developer (Rare, I think) whi are based outside Nuneaton.

I MADE IT ALIVE!

I'm not in Birmingham yet though. I met my long lost non-Muslim sister that arranged for me a job interview in London tomorrow.

She's just awesome like that.

Only a day or so and you have an interview? Wow. What's the job?

Interview went really well. They're impressed with what I can do and they're already asking me to do things.

My sister is a model here in the UK, she actually didn't meet my father until last year so she's all well and good ^^. Her and her awesome friend have helped me out a ton. I'm almost completely set up here. I'm just looking for a place to stay in London now. I grew up in London. It feels like home.

seems like a good start :)

How do you feel? I mean compared to UEA and constant need to hide your beliefs. Have you noticed the difference or were you to busy settling in? :)

cheers
