Fluoride in Drinking Water

No, to claim that dental fluorosis is just a benign tooth discoloration is retarted. It begins as a tooth discoloration, it can then be manifested into rotten and pitted teeth.
If a child has been exposed to fluoride since they were born, chances are they are ingesting too much. 1ppm may be a safe dosage for adults who weigh over 100 pounds, but when infants and children are ingesting the same amount of fluoride that adults are; and during a vital period of teeth formation, it is extremely likely that they will develop malformed teeth, and when you have malformed teeth, you will most likely be prescribed braces.
The only thing here that is "retarded" is the idea that "possible discoloration" is equal to "almost guaranteed deformity," which is the incredibly dishonest claim you are making.

You're caught out, kiddo... when you're in a hole, the first thing you need to do is stop digging. Put down the shovel!

Dental fluorosis is commonly defined as a tooth structure malformation, and rightly so. Your ignorance is not mine.

Wow, when you're absolutely wrong you declare victory? Weird...

When you're absolutely wrong you convince yourself that you're absolutely right? Weird...

We refuted everything you've posted. Do you have anything new to add, or are you going to just make personal comments?

Says the man with the personal comments.
I feel that it is futile to try to persuade you any further. I have proved with several studies that fluoride does more harm than good, and have yet to see anyone include a report that shows otherwise. Hardly any of the information from my previous argument has been refuted. With my previous post still standing and yet to be refuted or debunked, I feel that I am victorious, even if I have failed to persuade you out of your dogmatic state of fluoride endorsement.

You have no idea what you are talking about. That's all there is to it. Go to dental school, talk to a dentist, or look into real dental research - problems fixed by orthodontry are not caused by fluoridation. You are claiming they are and its a complete lie. Seriously, you know nothing about teeth and its completely obvious from this thread.

Yeah... last time I checked, mild discoloration doesn't make anyone need braces. I've got fluorosis, and I've got all of my teeth, no cavities, no braces, perfectly straight teeth. Hell, I've never even has a toothache! Mild fluorosis is discoloration and nothing else of any import. Anyone who says otherwise is lying in a rather obvious and foolish way.

Note also that he completely dropped his lie about fluoride causing lower IQ scores, after we crushed that nonsense. I wouldn't be surprised if the goalposts shift yet again, to claim that stained teeth is an evil government conspiracy to keep us all from being international models.

No, mild discoloration does not make anyone need braces, nice strawman. Simply because you were lucky enough to be exempt from fluoride induced tooth malformation does not mean everyone is (not saying that all teeth malformation is fluoride induced). A topic in which you are dogmatically ignorant about does not make any opposing argument a lie.

Notice that my purpose in posting this thread was not to prove that fluoride reduces IQ, which still remains and is yet to be "crushed". My topic was about all the dangers of fluoride. Simply because I decide to advance to a second fluoride induced impairment after introducing several studies that show lower IQ scores in fluoridated areas; does not mean I have abandoned the previous argument. You wouldn't criticize someone that was trying to get fluoride removed from communal water supplies for presenting more than one danger of fluoride.

Please, don't accuse someone of ignorance because what they're saying does not add up with your uneducated beliefs. You're telling me to talk to a dentist, while if you told a random group of dentists that you think dental fluorosis does not cause tooth malformation, they would all disagree with you (assuming that they know what they are talking about).

arg-fallbackName="Ozymandyus"/>
You are simply wrong. Fluorosis does not make you need braces, which is what you claimed. You are misunderstanding the term malformation. You are completely exaggerating the effects of fluorosis. You are also ignoring the fact that fluorosis is often caused more by a lack of calcium and other nutritional factors as water fluoridation. In optimally fluoridated areas fluorosis of aesthetic concern is less than 10%, and is a 4%-5% increase over unflouridated water. http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/PUBLICATIONS/synopses/_files/eh41.pdf (pg 82)

And this is still only of aesthetic concern, not actually bite problems such as you might fix with braces. It can further be avoided by avoiding fluoridated water in the first 12 months of life, and maintaining a proper diet. Comparing a 5% increase in an aesthetic problem from fluoridated water to the 16% increase in cavities without, and considering cavities are an actual health risk rather than aesthetic... I think it's a no brainer.

In short you are either ignorant or purposefully lying. Considering I've already seen you falsely claim that a link Supporting fluoridation of water was evidence of the dangers of fluoridation, I suppose you are knowingly lying - though I can't imagine the point. Ooo conspiracy theory - you are a provider of fillings and you profit from people getting more cavities!

Anyway, It is clear that your main source of education on the topic is one completely biased website. If your dentist truly 'hypothesized that you might need braces because you were exposed to such high levels of fluoride' you probably misunderstood him. Just please read ANY unbiased website on these topics, any scientific entry, ANYTHING except that orgsite.com or whatever before posting any more.

I said it before I'll say it again, "Fluoride does nothing to prevent cavities, it does however make teeth traceable from satellites" :p

in all seriousness though am i the only one confused by this quote of his?
With dental fluorosis prevalence at 20-80% in areas with fluoridated water

how the heck is 20%-80 a prevalence, that's pretty much everything except the extremes on both ends. I mean if you have one area of the country with Fluoridated water at 80% with dental fluorosis, and another part of the country with fluoridated water at 20% with dental fluorosis, that tells me that the there is something else at work here then the water, and perhaps time would be better spent looking at these other factors

The whole thing is incoherent nonsense, isn't it? "It ranges from 1-99%, plus or minus 50, and makes your teeth DEFORMED!!"

Fuck a duck, I think the "satellite tracking" idea is possibly more coherent than anything we're heard so far. At least that would have a POINT.

The factor that is causing this range in prevalence is obviously the level of fluoridation in different counties. ;)

Are you sure it isn't a lack of Calcium? Just look around you.

On what basis are you making the assumption that different areas are being supplied with different levels of calcium?

Here's a documentary about Calcium that I think you should watch to brush up on your chemistry.

Once you've seen it, when you look around, you'll understand my question a little better. It has nothing to do with water supply.

I've got flourosis, it's a terrible disease that can only be cured by the slow and painful application of Crest Whitening Strips (well maybe not painful but it does make you lisp a bit).

I know... I mean, you should sue your parents, the government, and the whole world for ruining your teeth by making them yellow and cavity resistant!

If fluoride doesn't improve teeth health, why do you think they add it to toothpaste...? :|
So according to you, fluoride makes your IQ go down, but shouldn't that make the IQ of people that can't afford toothpaste to skyrocket?

I eat fluoride pills to keep my teeth healthy.... and I could join Mensa.... What would have happened if I never used those pills?! OMG! I could be the next Vos Savant! Damn dentist!
