Favorite Game(s)?

That's my lifetime game statistics, that's what's pathetic. When I used to play wow that was a full time none profit job ;)

Ah, okay, that is pathetic then, haha... My total time on WoW compared to all other game playing would probably be about 25%. And the only reason it's that low is because I play a lot of video games. :D

Now this is going to take some effeort trying to remember all the games I've always liked. But anyway,

In no particular order:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R SoC & CS,
The Movies,
Halo CE,
Call of Duty 1,2 & 4,
Rome Total War,
Medieval 2 Total War,
Half Life,
Company of Heroes + Opposing Fronts,
Theme Hospital,
Medal of Honor Allied Assault + Spearhead,
Command and Conquer Series, except for Red Alert 2 and 3,
Sins of a Solar Empire,
No One Lives Forever 1&2,
Close Combat 2&3,
Z,
Duke Nukem 3D,
Star Trek Elite Force,
Quake 2&4,
the Doom series (yes even the third one, even though it was completely different from the originals. I just thought it was a good horror game),
Max payne 1&2,
The Sims 1&2,
Sim City 3000,
Goldeneye N64,
Perfect Dark,
Warcraft 3,
Starcraft,
Startopia,
Metal Gear Solid series,
Resident Evil series,
Grand Theft Auto series,
Deus Ex,
The Suffering,
Killzone,
Bioshock,
Gears of War 1&2,
Lego Star Wars The Original Saga,
Total Annihilation,
Conflict Freespace 1&2,
Knights and Merchants,

Right, that's about all I can think of right about now. So this list may be updated at some point! But with a bit of luck I've listed all the one's that I can remember that I have really enjoyed and would class as my favourite. :)

Holy crap that game was fun. For its day anyway. Doesn't hold much water with more modern shooters, but I used to spend hours pulping things with the shotgun.

Very true. It does show it's age nowsdays, but when they put the game onto xbox live I couldn't resist downloading it and playing again. It brought back some many fond memories! :)

I don't have an xbox, but I do still have the game on one of my rather old machines.

A lot of the games you listed were classics and favorites of mine. They really don't make em like they used to.

I sitll have the old windows 95 CD of it too! But unfortunately I don't have a computer that old to play it on.

I know there are other older games that I used to really enjoy, but for the life of me, I just cannot remember what they are called! But I know what you mean about games not being made like they used too. Sure the games are getting prettier, but they're falling short on originality and variety.

That last statement I only sort of agree with. I'm totally ok with prettying up old ideas, but trying to pass them off as new games is what really gets to me. I have way more fun playing old games that were well thought out, than playing 'new' games that changed a few things around for the sake of being different. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Also, developers need to respond to the feedback they are getting more. It seems like they don't really care about debugging their games, as long as they sell well. If you don't care enough to fix all of your bugs, at least make the game open-source after a few years or so, so that fans can do what they want with it.

Yes that's very true. I don't mind them prettying up old ideas either, but as you said, they only make minor changes to old ones and claim it as a 'whole new adventure'. However I must admit, there have been some good examples, GTA 3 was an amazing overhaul and I quite liked C&C 3, was nice and old school... to a degree atleast! But yes, you're absolutely right, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I like to playing NFS Most Wanted. The game just keeps getting better. I must say, however, I don't actually play that much overall. Less then 5-6 hours a week . Can't wait for classes to be over in a few weeks. I think it is a fabulous game. Every one should play this game.

iirc, that one suffered from abuse of rubberband AI.

For MMOs, Guild Wars is my favorite, with WoW coming in second. But I end up playing WoW simply because I have so many friends there. I'm hoping GW2 gets my guild to move to it when it comes out, assuming Guild Wars 2 is as good as the first.

Other than that:

Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons
-The best Zelda games by far, despite being on the GBC. The gameplay in all its aspects, especially the dungeon and item design, was leaps and bounds above anything else Nintendo has come up with in the series.

Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age
-Again, despite being on the GBA, I consider these games the greatest RPGs I've ever played. I don't even know where to start. The story was extremely good. The graphics were crazy good for being a GBA game. The combat and class system is brilliant beyond words. It's difficult to convey how much I love that series, and I really, really hope that Golden Sun DS delivers on the same level as the first two. If they were ever to make that series into an MMO somehow, without losing all the class system, and to some extent their combat system, I would drop whatever game I was playing and play it in a second.

Portal
-Although during the first time through, Gladdis irritated me beyond words, the second play through was really very good.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (formerly Melee)
-This is quite possibly the best multiplayer series in existance (in my opinion) with a very enjoyable story campeign on top of it. What's not to like?

Star Wars: Jedi Academy
-I hardly remember it, but I remember loving this game to the point of obsession. Unfortunately, I only rented it, and have never bothered trying to find a copy on Ebay or something. :(

Warcraft 3
-Just an all-around great fantasy-based RTS. Oh, and it had DotA. (I really should look into HoN again...)

Edit: Oh, and Tales of Symphonia
-It's a freaking anime game. How is that not going to automatically be enjoyable? Seriously, though, that's one of the greatest non-MMO co-op games out there.

It's available on Steam now :)

The Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles rail shooter for the Wii is quite fun if you've got a friend to play with, if a bit easy (seriously, make sure to shoot objects for money, then upgrade pistol, by the end your pistol can take down the final boss unaided by other weapons just fine). Doesn't quite have the "replay" value of smash bros though, but it was a very enjoyable 6 hours or whatever with a friend. Similarly true for online co-op of resident evil 5 on the PC.
