Debate practice?

I have to admit that I find listening to Mr. Beck painfull and for some reason have a psychological block to remembering his points, but it would be much easier and educational to read a debate about him. So that would be awesome.

LRkun, Bible reversal as in backwards Beatles records and Satanism? I'm not clear, but I really am looking forward to a debate. :)

If you don't mind.

Revise means to change the content. Amend means to change a part of the content. The purpose will be to make the bible up to date, of course, it is only a dream on my part since they are unlikely tochange the information.

That is such a bizarre idea but I'm curious about the principle. I suppose I've been indoctrinated with the idea that holy text were "inspired" in some official church way and weren't open to reinterpretation or discussion by the average person, is it really possible? And for what religion?

It is not a new idea. Jefferson did it, such as when he wrote his biased opinion on the life of jesus christ and also with the case of conservatives making their own bible.

I believe it is a good thing, such as when a scientist amends the old testament to conform with science, instead of the old myths forcing scienc to conform to what was written. :3

Thankee. :D

I've updated the first post to list ideas suggested so far. If I get braver I may make a sticky, though I suspect I ought not to do it in the Religion forums this time. Sorry.

It may well be a bizarre idea, but that don't mean it ain't bein' done.

I guess even the Bible is too liberal for Conservapedia.

Fortunately, given this is an American conservative thing, I think this means these folks can never run for government - or at least according to anyone but Christine O'donnell, maybe, but I think she lost the last election. Didn't she? Oh well. :D

Yay for separation of church and state!

Oh, they can, will, and do run. And they occasionally win, too. It's nigh impossible for an atheist to run a successful campaign, but a fundamentalist christian has fairly good odds.

On a completely unrelated note, jesus tap-dancing christ, ZomgitsChriss is freakin' sex incarnate.

:D

This said, I really did mean semi-legitimate debate exercises (that is - not hinging on personal belief - but real arguments - and not meant to be a farce). While the prospect of doing Monty Python debate is tempting, it wasn't really the whole point. And trust me, I am pretty competent with Monty Python argument myself.

Maybe there should be a rule like: every person who tries for one psuedo debate thing is allowed one silly debate thing in reward...
