Well one would sure hope it is a joke.. but you never know what people really believe in. It is virtually impossible to be sure if somebody is joking about such things in many cases, unless they say they are or show somehow that they're not serious about it..

From what i could understand it's not that his dad became a Christian but that he acts like one when he is around Christians.
