I would call him a scientist only if he passes it on. It could be secretive and only given to a select few, it could be shared out of greed, it could be out of altruism, but he has to pass it on. If he refuses to pass it on I would not call him a scientists, but something else. Perhaps as you suggested, a master bricklayer.

Sorry it is my fault, I wanted to specify the topics rather then have generic ones. But there are so many topics (and the ones that I wanted to put would still be a big list) that the poll can't even support it.

But you an slip Zoology under Biology and Geology under geophysics, if that is to much of a stretch for you then you can just slip it under other (like 13% of the cases).
