I wonder how many people on this forum don't read xkcd? They must be a minority sure.
And the Stephen Hawking one a couple weeks back was great.

Typically the counter for this is the "No Cure for Cancer" argument; that inefficient methods are more profitiable then efficient ones.

To which I find the most appropriate response is usually that this would necessitate an enormous conspiracy. As any company that broke from the mold and went ahead with the more efficient method would stand to make billions in exclusive profit.

XKCD is one of my favourites! I've read them all through plenty of times and saved up a collection for my laptop whenever an appropriate occasion arises that needs these witty little stick-figures.

I have the Android ap on my phone. If I am ever bored, or not at my laptop and there is a new one, I just use my phone.

i wonder how many people know about the mouse-over text
When the book came out I asked how I could mouse over the pages to get the alt text

No one seemed to get the joke :(

The mouse-over caption reads:

So, do photons bounce or does a new one get emitted?
I always figure they bounced, but when people ask I'm not so sure any more.
