The third expansion for The World of warcraft has been announced, World of warcraft: cataclysm, it is certinly packed with new content But I am still unsure of the release date or if it has been set yet.

Plot: The ancient entity Neltharion the Earth-Warder chosen by the titans to rule over Azeroth and a great supporter of the Dragon queen Alexstrasza, once wise and kind hearted, was corrupted by the evil forces the seep out of the surface of Azeroth and became Deathwing the destroyer. He was defeated by the other Dragon aspects. Defeated, but not destroyed, and has returned to seek revenge and to change the face of the already war-scared lands of Azeroth.

New races: the worgen and the goblins. The worgen a type of permeant werewolf, once the humans of Gilneas, which will obviously become the Worgen's home city of the Worgens. The Goblins Seem to have changed from a non-playable neutral race to a horde playable horde race. Their home city is the undermines in Kezan the new goblin homeland.

Level cap: The level cap will be increaced to 85, this rather strange I think, but apparantly what they learned from tWotLK told them players want access to new content instantly, and not faff about with levelling so much. They are also re working the 1-60 content. Talent trees will get a drastic makeover and a new talent system will be introduced that allow players to follow titan themed 'paths' (titans being the creators of Azeroth) Talent points. The stats will also become more simplistic.

Classic zones remade: Yes The cataclysm will change the original zones, rich forests will change to blackened toothpicks and barren wastelands to lush green forests by the arrival of deathwing. Flying mounts will also be introduced into the classic zones but there may be some restrictions. The map changes will be applied to all players, expansion or not, but the new 80-85 content will only be accessible by players with the expansion.

New zones: There will also be new zones in the Northenend and Azeroth. A new full underwater zone will change underwater interaction, combat etc.

New raids and dungeons: As per usual, there will be a host of new raids and dungeons as well as some more challenging classic heroics like the Deadminds!

New race-class combinations: As well as all the other combinations, new ones will be available, like warrior blood elves, Gnome priests or Dwarf shaman.

A new guild levelling and set guild achievements: A new progress system will be introduced to guilds.

Professions: As well as the new secondary skill, Archaeology, unearthing valuable objects and the likes. This will also play an important part in the new path system. There will be minor enhancements and changes to the existing professions, for instance tailors will be able to change cretin stats on cloth items and letherworkers on leather Items etc

And much, much more...

I LOVE it when expansions are announced, it's 1 MORE reason why I shall not play WoW again.

It's kinda cool that it follows on the story of 'Day of the Dragon' and 'Night of the Dragon'. The WoW storyline is actually quite cool.
