Why do people dislike us so? D:

With all that League of Treason stuff from before and shanedk slagging us off in his last video, I have to ask the question.

Why are there so many people out there who don't like this forums and those who use it? :?

Well it's fairly obvious why the creationists dislike us... Rather obvious why people who have problems with science dislike us. Somewhat obvious why the theists hate us...

The rest mostly think our name is presumptuous. Also MGK and ImprobableJoe frighten away some people.

I'm concerned with those who claim to be sceptics and pro-science. Shanedk for one.

I suspect ImprobableJoe & MGK can scare a few away, and the name probably makes us look like dicks to some. But the scale of the resentment in some cases leads me to think that maybe there had been incidents where people were genuinely being douchebags for no reason on a large scale.


Does anyone know what happened to make shanedk dislike us? I honestly can't remember.

As far as I recall, he's got a bunch of unreasonable semi-religious political views that make him look like a fool and he reacted like any other cultist when challenged on beliefs that cannot be rationally defended.

Joe and MGK (et alia... but he was naming names I don't recognize (and don't seem to be with us anymore)) attacked him, and he really didn't like how "rude" they were to him. I guess he thought the moderators should ban Joe and MGK or something. He also complained about being ganged up on... Generally his threads escalated in crazy manners with insults being flung on both sides...



Personally, I'm just glad that when I express views that disagree with the majority of a forum that I don't get banned; but I guess that's what I get after visiting a few creationist forums.

I didn't realize that I was a direct cause for shanedk leaving... but now I'm sort of proud that I was. That guy was a not-nice person, with viewpoints worthy of attack, and in no sense seemed to be worthy of being included in any group with "reason" in its name.

I'm Jack's complete lack of surprise. :cool: After all, considering the political cult of sociopathy that he's a member of, he would consider everyone else a member of some other more rational/less stupid religion. After all, this IS the guy who basically said that the correction for all problems is the "free market", and that includes products fatal to their users. After all, once enough people die everyone else will stop buying that product, and who gives a shit about all the corpses piling up? Better thousands of dead people than one government regulation.

That guy is a moron. First of all governments actually exist so if you wanted to worship big government at least you have something to work with. Second, we have a diverse range of voices and we are constantly arguing about how far government intervention should go. Third, while most people here would classify themselves on the left of the political spectrum (there are exceptions) almost everyone is on the side of libertarianism as versus authoritarianism - at least based on the results of internet quizzes that occasionally get posted.
