Occasionally, I would like to use a Simpsons reference in my videos, but I do not know where I can go to download episodes. Any help here?

Firstly, is the simpsons a licensed series?

If it is, then it will be an illegal topic under the forum rules: DO NOT post links to or discuss illegal downloads.

If it is not, then I guess it is okay.

Also, ask in the chat if it is allowed.

I suppose the illegality would rise in different countries from the question of do you own the originals? Here it's at least permissible to make backup copies for self-use, and I for one read that as "if you own it, you can download it". Converting the episodes yourself when someone has already done the work seems like reinventing the wheel in these times of fast internet. It's the sharing that is frowned upon.

And Irkun makes a good point. Licenced series are illegal. Technically they are legal to share before it, so it is permissible to own the TV-rips, if you can show that you've owned them prior to the licencing. I've seen my share of anime over the years. ;)

I'd suggest different streaming sites, YT/Hulu/such for clips. I'd think they fall under the fair-use when used in short enough clips, and all the best jokes are propably already streamed somewhere. Grab an mp4 and run.

Over here in Holland you can actually download movies and stuff. It's legally allowed because part of the money we pay on blank CDs and DVDs go to the holders of these media rights.
So it's off to the newsgroups for me, weee!

Doing so, you will be able to get that which you need.

Why do people always ask questions that are as easy to answer by using google as it is to pose the question in the first place? I will probably never understand the (lack of) reasoning behind it...

I tried searching on google, but that did not help. I would not post this question if I was not having trouble finding the answer.

I think maybe you could try searching "Simpsons downpour" or "Simpsons flood", no wait that's not right. What's the word I'm looking for here? It's something like a heavy rain, but a different word. :D

When downloading stuff, Google often gives you some dodgy sites. The best sites are the ones which float around in the bay. The 'Pirate' bay, perhaps?

What you fail to realise Prole, is that although that applies to many things, using google for that kind of search is a rookie mistake, a schoolboy error. Nelson is right, you want to be looking for a specific torrential downpour.
