What's your attitude to money?

What's your attitude to money?

Here's how I think money should be used, in this order of priority, if you have enough :

1 - Take care of your basic needs
2 - Take care of basic luxuries
3 - Save some money
4 - Invest some
5 - Splurge a bit
6 - Give the rest away

Money should be used all the time, it should never stay stagnant, doing nothing, except for a proportion of it, just for some security.

You should only spend on what you genuinely need, and genuinely want.

Always try to spend as little as possible on each thing, but without compromising too much on quality.

You should treat money like energy.

I always thought money should be spent in this manner.

1: spend money to get the girl.
2: retract the money to lose the girl
3: rinse, and repeat.

Sounds more like prostitution...

For me it's:
1. Get money
2. Have most of it taken off you
3. Scrape through for the rest of the month
4. Treat yourself if you somehow get a little extra left over

I hate money, it's possibly the highest thing on my worry list...

Money is a system of representational tokens, used to represent human labour and natural resources.

Any other view of money is deluded.

I like to always have a stock of money I won't touch, then keep a small amount as spending money. If I happen to come across a bit more money, I'll spend out a bit more, if not I'll tend only to buy what I need. Simples.

Sounds like you know exactly the topic of study you should devote time to.

It's that simple??? Thanks! All my problems are solved!

/sarcasm
I just find that most people in my life who have money problems also don't like to bother learning about money. I've never met a person who devoted several hours a week to explicitly learn about monetary matters who also had major monetary troubles (well, assuming they'd done it for a while).

Well, the big difference is, you don't know enough about me or my financials to be able to make that judgement. I do spend a lot of time sorting out money, but it's not just my money and things haven't exactly gone according to plan in the last year (more circumstances you don't know about)... Of course, the main issue for me is that I am a worrier, always have been... More often things aren't as bad as I think, but i'd sooner be over cautious than find myself in the shit :)
