Hello, I'm a long time chat lurker, I mean, personality and after a couple years of being on this site I was encouraged by the chat community to finally post my introductory thread here.
I'm a student at the University of Central Florida and I am pursuing a degree in Digital Media with a specialization in game development. I've been at this whole college thing for quite some time and frankly can't wait for the whole ordeal to be done.
I was raised as a fundamentalist, Baptist Christian for about 15 years and honestly couldn't really deal with it anymore. Most of my main problem there was listening to the fear mongering that was really just used to distract the members from the dubiousness of the pseudo-scientific claims, and the claims based on faith alone, that were also being propagated throughout the congregation. I still have family members that are religious, not too many of them though, and my family doesn't seem to have too much of a problem with my atheism, though there are members of my family that I haven't informed out of consideration for them.
I'm big into gaming and actually that has kind of led me to wanting to study more mathematics, economics (mainly for the discipline of game theory), and also the fundamentals of physics.
In terms of my hopes for a career, I'm looking into getting into programming digital games. I'm currently studying C++ though I'm familiar with C and a little bit with Java. I chose this particularly because I've always loved playing games, but I've always spotted ways of making the experience "better", and though a lot of highly marketed games look pretty, it's the programming aspect that really makes it a game. That's what I find more fascinating.
