Views on problems

I was talking to someone and I was trying to explain the difference between the Atheist and theist view on solving a problem...

Basically I said... If I saw an equation that had a 2 and a 3 in it and the solution was 6...

The theist would form this equation God + 2 + 3 = 6
where as an atheist would form this one 2 * 3 = 6

Basically theists use the processes they know to solve the problem and often that process runs into a problem which is fixed by adding god. Atheists look at the process and change their process to figure out how to come to the right conclusion.

What do you think of this comparison?

A more accurate analogy would be that theists start out with god on one side, and try to find something to support that claim while an atheist first looks at the numbers and then tries to find the solution. Kind of badly explained, but I hope you get the point.

Atheist: 2+2=?
Theist: 2+?=god

But then again, I just realized that both our examples could be used in different situations. Mine when explaining the origins of the universe, life etc while yours could be used when explaining more common events where a theist might think god intervened in their life.
