Finally... Sweet science, he literally got worse and worse. Every time I would think, "This is the ultimate low and stupid." Then, I saw his response to Laci Green, and I said to myself, "This is the end of the universe, isn't it? He just created a black hole of horrible."

For a literal Bible believer, it seems quite normal for them to have complete control over him. I actually expected him to marry a girl by an arrangement via his parents with the girls family for wealth and estates.

it made me laugh though when i saw "by his parents", considering he's a 24 year old man/prophet. poor shawny-wawn, he's probably throwing a tantrum right now.

I value free speech as well but not at the cost of scamming people, which is what VFX was doing and might have been a contributing factor to why his parents shut him down.

Yet, I would like to add that what he propagates is the attempt to squelch free speech and inquiry - all that is good, really.

I actually really meant his preaching videos and evilutionist videos, and not his more recent ones scamming people and asking for donations.

But I wonder if it's possible to only shut down the scamming portion of vfx instead of his whole site... Argh. His whole person makes me peeved.

Personally, I do not have a problem with preaching. The problem comes when they promote indoctrination, imposition of beliefs on others, and the dismantling and anti-support for science and civilization. If it includes any of that, I do not consider it a matter of free speech, for the negative effect of freedom imposed by them outweighs my support for their lack of free speech.

I might be digging myself in a hole for Joe or Ozy... Gulp.

I am surprised that he lasted as long as he did. If I was one of his parents and saw any of his video's I would be extremely disturbed. Hopefully they will get him the professional help he needs.

And you have to consider the fact he lives with them and they pay for all of his expenses. I'm pretty sure if my father (whom does the same for me) would also do something very similar. They're probably far more upset about the scamming than the proselytizing.

I agree with your sentiment, and am also adamant in defense of free speech. But the fact that his parents shut down the site makes me believe that VFX was, once again, using his parent's resources (they apparently run a business, so it's likely they have web hosting plan) to host his site. Two possible scenarios being:

1. They allowed him to use their hosting service to run his site because they likely felt it was harmless and wanted to support their son. But with the recent attention brought on by his scamming with Sick Kids they became aware of what exactly he was doing with their hosting service and kicked him off of it.
   
2. The second possibility is that they were not aware that Shawn was using their hosting plan to run his site and when they found out the extent of his actions, took the site down not just to protect their own business, but because they are probably just as horrified as we are.

If, in fact, VFX was using his parents resources to host his site, then they are completely within their right to shut it down. Given VFX's behavior, I think the above two scenarios (or something similar along those lines) are very possible. Shawn can always take the DB backups from it, get his own hosting plan and restore his site.

I guess that will mean he's going to need $1500 a month from his supporters. Or is that $1 from 1500 supporters ... and will Sick Kids ever see any money from Shawn at all?

Bullshit or not, only time will tell. Personally, I wouldn't mind him gone for good. Not that I see him as a threat or violating any laws(excluding the charity-scam), but his ignorant preachings have brought forth "a congregation" of sorts. With such a charismatic leader gone, I'm having a fools hope that the christian community in YT will atleast falter if not slowly fade away. Maybe the rest won't be attacking with such ignorance.

Jesusfreak777 posted a vid saying how shawn contacted him with an account that only both of them know the password to and that he said how he was leaving due to death threats by Muslims.

My first reaction is yeah right, it's probably just PCS giving another excuse

second reaction is it might actually be true and would also fit with all that happened, and that he is being forced by his parents to close all his stuff because otherwise they kick him out.

Riiiiight. Because the extremist Muslims are SO upset about his youtube account they are sending death threats. I bet this is just like how the atheists vot botted his videos and how evolution is sooo completely a lie.


Its not at all likely that the actions taken by various people to bring his illegal money operation to the light of day caught his parents attention and they brought down the hammer on him.
