USA national trade deficit

If you extrapolate into the future and ask: "How will the USA ever resolve it's national trade deficit, especially with China?" I forsee a day, perhaps in the distant future, when China makes a simple proposal. It will be a document similar to a treaty where there are two provisions:
1. China will completely forgive the existing debt
2. The USA will cede the island of Guam to China.

and the next time it will be Puerto Rico or other territories and then certain coastal counties of Washington State and then the rest of Washington State and so on.

The only alternative for the United States is to implement a strict Buy American policy.

This is the bit where you explain in detail what the trade deficit is and why it's a problem.

I can already tell you have no idea, because you obviously don't get that trade deficits are a necessary and important function of global trade.

Would you like me to make a list of other topics you don't understand so you can pontificate on them as well? I have many topics.

Depends on who is in charge. Trump or one of his children will take that kinda deal in a heartbeat. Looking forward to 2024.
Also, the national debt is not a problem, since the US got 2 things, a sovereign currency(which is also the worlds reserve currency) and tax payers. As long as the US has both those things, it can never, ever go broke. So ... no need to be scared of China buying up the US. In addition, no one, not even China, can collect on the US.

For your amusement, a different way of dealing with the national debt:

I would want this purely for the fact that Chinesium goods are garbage and most things are Chinese made. My dash cam is Chinese and automatically shuts off when hot.

Lot's of electronic devices shut down automatically when they get hot to prevent themselves from cooking themselves. The field staff in the company I work for are having the same issue with their devices due to the hot weather up here.

If you think the Chinese goods are such garbage, why do you buy them?

Nothing like protectionism to decrease the prices of stuff.

Yup, obviously the costs of consumer goods are going to plummet when they're made at home with higher quality standards, in a country with vastly higher living standards and costs! And think of the benefits of all those jobs.... cuz it's not like low-paid jobs are typically filled by those first generation immigrants we don't want coming over 'ere stealing our jobs. Surely, a veritable economic renaissance will ensue!

I dont think this statement makes much sense. A trade deficit is not what is being referred to when people talk about China owning US debts.
I think it is a conspiracy theory to say that China could cash in on US debts and destroy the US economy in an instant.

There is nothing in the world China could invest the money from the US debts it holds which China could make a profit from overnight. If there was, the US would go to war to prevent that. I think China is foolish to hold so much US debt.

It is a dash camera and the inside of the car reads in the 70s. They say not to leave it in direct sunlight. How are you supposed to use a Dashcam under these circumstances?

Find me a U.S. made dash cam. I won't hold my breath. That is what is available not what I would like.

Actually yes think of the 1940s hardly anything was imported and costs were low. For example I watched a video on WW2 leather combat boots and the boot maker reviewing the shoe said it would be about 400 dollars or so to produce now. Why? Because every material has to be imported. Back in those days tanneries were local and you can source materials easily without import. Add to that the inflation of printing money for which you have no value for means the dollar is worth less.
