Is their anyway to change the general colour scheme of the site on an individual user basis. I find it quite hard to read with it being this blue. Messes with my eyes, especially when flicking back to another page with a light colour background.

Or is it just me :(

I have the same. I think the site looks very good, but it does strain my eyes when I read.

I've been waiting for someone to complain about this!

It hurts my eyes as well. What happens is that the dark background allows my pupils to dilate but the brightness and contrast of the light text burns into my retinas. I much prefer dark text to a light (but not white) background. This avoids hurting my eyes...

Others have mentioned it before but not enough to warrant me spending hours and hours reskinning the site... The old site had a similar colour scheme in the sense of contrast and nobody complained.. I do have an idea for a solution but it will take me quite a while to implement it.

I did check the design with at least 6 of the moderators before putting it live, with no complaints... And as I said, very few since. I have no issue with light on dark colour schemes unless I am sitting in the dark and switching between a dark on light site and this... Sitting in the dark staring at a monitor isn't a good idea at the best of times to be honest...

If I had used a premade theme it wouldn't be an issue but I made this one from scratch so to make an alternative version will take time just as this one did. The idea I have to help rectify this is to use an alternative stylesheet set based on a cookie set from a toggle button I will put somewhere... At least that way it'll be a matter of changing images and stylesheets rather than a whole set of template files that have to be modified when I change something in the design...

Anyway, I will get to it when I can :)

Not to dismiss the discomfort others are experiencing, but the only thing which troubles my eyes is the "this user has been banned" avatars because they are red on the blue which flickers in my peripheral vision as I'm trying to read posts. If that could be changed to say dusky yellow type it would be easier to read. other than that, I like the skin a lot myself.

No worries, Spork. It isn't the end of the world. :)

Only something to keep in mind for the future, reversed text is usually not very comfortable on screen when you are talking about long stretches of text,
eventhough it does look awesome.

Personally, I really like the colour scheme, so would be against another colour scheme being compulsory.

Having the option to change the scheme would be a pretty decent idea though. :D

An option to change the scheme would be awesome, but a little challenging.

I personally love it, mostly because I *often* sit in the dark on my computer (for reasons I won't go into), and dark text on light background is like staring at the sun...

I've seen it implemented in a number of forums, though I think they use standard stuff.

if you really wanted to, you could change the site's color with "stylish" for firefox
