Why do posts have to be reviewed? Surely LoR is in favor of free speech? If a post seems inappropriate let another poster flag it for review. Current method seems quite Orwellian...

Because of the sheer volume of spam (as in, advertising or dodgy websites) that comes in. To give a sense of scale: in the past week, almost 30 spam topics have been posted trying to sell women's shoes and other things. Without the current system, all of those topics would have made it into the forums and had to be found and deleted individually.

I assure you, reviewing posts before posting is without a doubt, the best way to handle spam. And of course it's only temporary so it's not as if there's an effort for censorship going on. I can understand the frustration in having posts delayed for review, but please recall it's temporary and surely will be approved if it's not an overt spam post.

Just for clarity, we never censor for issues that would come under the free speech banner, it is simply a means of keeping spam bots and similar off the boards.

Indeed. Spamming can be a nightmare to deal with, as I have known first-hand before. Having said that, I know websites where hardly any trolling/spamming is done, apart from....

The only common denominator of the websites I know that are like this is that they are only trolled/spammed by David Mabus....
Somehow, this doesn't surprise me.

Mabus is a guy with a very time-consuming hobby. Hell...he must spend hours per day defeating CAPTCHAS and registering e-mail accounts/IP Addresses. Everyone needs a hobby,. I guess.

Just to list an example is all. Spam posts here would be dealt with as soon as they were submitted, I see. :)
