Is it better to start a new topic on a subject that has been discussed in the past or to necro a thread that's almost a year old that deals with the topic?

I'd prefer to resurrect an old topic rather than make a new one, provided it already exists.

The problem is, I was given a warning the first few months, when I became a member of this forum, because I found juicy old topics which would have been nice if discussed. Therefore I resurrected them with my replies.

Ah well, this is my opinion on the matter. :D

Atleast, they ought to lock the old threads, so the necro thing won't be an issue. ;)

Personally, I agree with Irukun ( although admittedly, resurecting an introduction that is long outdate isn't entirely useful.) I'd argue that all these archaic threads contain important points, and that arguments like these are somewhat times. I'd rather seeing an old topic resurrected than to suffer an inevitable kind of de ja vu. That said, in the forum rules it has not specifically mentioned reviving old posts:
How do I bump my topic?

By clicking the "Bump topic" link when you are viewing it, you can "bump" the topic to the top of the forum on the first page. However, if you do not see this, then topic bumping may be disabled or the time allowance between bumps has not yet been reached. It is also possible to bump the topic simply by replying to it, however, be sure to follow the board rules when doing so.

I don't think you've beein "warned" in any official capacity, Lrukun.:(

I could be completelly insane too. But warnings are kinda official type things, and a moderator/administrator/webmaster mght give you a poke when there is an unexpected issue that is not distinctly addressed by these rules.

If am wrong for this, then please feel free to contemplate a creative punishment. That said, I now feel a bit nervous... :?

Wow, I talk too much.

I also like resurrecting old threads rather than starting new ones, if the subject is the same. Old threads may have a lot of fluff to pick through, but if you can do that, then there is a wealth of archive and example in them. It also brings back memories, though the desirability of this can depend. Not often for me though, it is rare that something is bad enough that I would want to forget it rather than soak it in and learn more from it.
