To be honest, I think they're still putting it on a bit... The accent is over-the-top cockney.

Would it really kill them to enter, say, Muse, Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs or similar for Eurovision? Someone actually known for making good music in the opinion of the majority? Even Lily Allen (though I don't find her stuff very good myself). ANYONE other than the abominations that represent the UK each year...

There was a rumour that Morrissey was going to enter. Thankfully he didn't because he sucks but you're right, there's a wealth of talent in the UK and the best we came up with this year was Blue? Srsly?

Ive never even heard of Blue in the u s of a (not yet :? ), where both muse and coldplay have a decent fanbase here (viva la vida is my musical guilty pleasure). Then again, I have the same greivances about what "music authorities" over here believe to be good, and if what arts history says is true, then what is popular wont neccessarily be what is remembered*.

Oh, and

*The most popular song in america in 1969 was "Sugar Sugar", despite the albums Led Zeppelin I + II, Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road, Bayou Country, Green River, Chicago Transit Authority, On the Threshold of a Dream, Tommy, Yes, and Ummagumma all having come out that year.
