So, this girl I've been talking to came up to me today and was telling me about all the words to Rap songs played backwards... Then she showed me a clip where Labron James does some ritual throwing up the 666 and the Illuminati triangle. I showed her some Michael Shermer clips for the backwards music, but I couldn't find anything out to debunk the Labron James stuff. Any of you looked into any of this?

Assuming it's this video:

Could be any number of reasons. Gang signs, some kind of bet, some free-mason crap, simply being a douche.. Best way to solve this is to ask him.

My department's resident conspiracy nut was really into this series for a while. As far as I could tell the repeated imagery just indicates that modern musicians are incredibly unoriginal and plagiarize each other constantly, I'm sure you could find heaps of other repetitions. I was also unclear as to how an umbrella and a rain man indicate a combined conspiracy, I would think they'd be on opposing sides if anything

When I was 15, everyone in my church's youth group were made to watch the movie "They sold their soul for Rock N' Roll". Basically all they did in the movie was quote mine musicians, and paint them as a satanic force in a documentary style. I didn't buy into the bullshit at the time but everyone else swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. I'm assuming this is all the same shit. I was just trying to show this girl how unrealistic it all is to believe.

Oh this is just the tip of the conspiracy-theorist bullshit... For some it seems it's far easier to imagine a secret organisation behind all that's unfair and annoying in the world rather than just accept the truth that it's essentially random. Those in power at any one time often exploit it while they can for their own ends, frequently at odds with each other and usually to the detriment of the masses, but it's easier for these folks to imagine a NWO conspiracy of "satanist bloodline" boogeymen that control everything from the media to sports stars...

There are many things James could be doing, one of which is throwing these signs for a laugh just to wind up conspiracy theorists...

Well, I started knocking her house of cards down when she said that Beyonce was supposedly in on the devil stuff... Just had to point her to some gospel music that Beyonce sings, as for L.J. I have no idea what that shit was about, but like you said it's easier for some people to go for the crazy conclusion than it is to shrug of the simple answer. Critical thinking skills are really absent in the Southern USA culture.

You know, all I can think is

If such a group exists, why the fuck would they choose Labron James over me?

and aren't they supposed to be old rich white people trying to oppress everyone who isn't old rich and white?
