They will say they misinterpreted the signals, choose another day, and those who believe it will swallow it. I doubt that anyone really will loose their faith on this. Anyway, we will get a good laugh out of this.

Re: The world ends in six days

Found it.
Ahaha, look at that homepage!

The wonderful thing with the internet is that with all the attention they have drawn, they can never escape the fact they they were wrong again. They can't push it under the rug, and Harold camping said this date was "100% accurate and beyond dispute".
Also, This is going to be a pain in the ass if they want to revise the date later.

At least we have something to laugh at. Another one that didn't come to pass, another one we can use to show that this end of the world nonsense it bullshit.

I hope they're wrong. Even as a joke, this sucks. :)

Re: The world ends in six days

So, according to them, it happens this year because it has been 7000 years since the flood that happened 4990 BC.
Now is it just me or is -4990+7000=2010?

There is no year 0, it goes from 1 BCE to 1 CE.

On the other hand, the flood was in 4990 BCE? I thought the Universe was created in 4004 BCE? What is their timeline based on?

Edit: http://www.familyradio.com/graphical/literature/nomanknows/nomanknows.html
Apparently their timeline places creation at 11,013 BCE. Of course if you expect them to explain why, then you'll be sorely disappointed.

Re: The world ends in six days

Because if creation was at 11,013 BCE then the end of the world is in 2011

Re: The world ends in six days

I honestly think the Church wins at this.

I sincerely doubt that whoever came up with this believes it. I don't doubt human stupidity to be capable of producing this, but honestly this is something they've been doing for years, are they devoid of shame?

The real ruse has nothing to do with the world ending I'm sure, I suspect, and this is only speculation now, that the real reason for this is just to get people to give away more because the rapture is happening. That works out very well for churches, it's a really nice way to make money. Think about it... lets put this in a way we could all empathise too.

If you found out that a family of asteroids were heading this way and were definitely going to wipe out all life on earth and there was a group of aliens that would bring you over to their special fun planet if you gave them some money and a house (Don't ask how the house and money is supposed to help them). Would you?

a) Stay and die

b) Give exactly your house and a bit of money.

c) Give more than that!

You mean, when it doesn't they'll be fucked.

Or basically May 22nd isn't going to be a good day for them.

Re: The world ends in six days

Harold Camping, the guy behind this, have wrongly predicted the end of times before. A "mistake in calculation" those times, but this time will be a lot more embarrassing, thanks to the internet.

Re: The world ends in six days

I am thinking of making an open letter to those who believed it. Something along the lines of you should be angry because you have been mislead and you should be angry.

Re: The world ends in six days

I predict he's made a mistake in his calculations.

Re: The world ends in six days

I'm afraid you have a mistake in the topic's title, it should be:

The world ends in six days, again
