Bored? Try this.

Objective: Navigate your way to a predetermined article on Wikipedia using only the hyperlinks found in articles as you go. You begin by pressing "Random Article" on the Wikipedia homepage and then see how many hyperlink clicks it takes before you reach the predetermined article.

No hyperlinks from the footer(categorical linking) or sidebars. (DepricatedZero)

Example: Find article "Beer in Belgium"

Step 1: Click "Random Article"
I got "Early Phase of Printing in Calcutta"

Step 2: Navigate to "Beer in Belgium" via only hyperlinks.
Early Phase of Printing in Calcutta > South Asia > United Nations > Member States of UN > Belgium > Beer in Belgium

Step 3: Count up how many hyperlink clicks it took.
5 Clicks

---------------

Scoring:

Best 1-3 Clicks
Good 4-6 Clicks
Average 7-9 Clicks
Poor 10-12 Clicks
Worst >12 Clicks

Lottery Winner: The random article IS the predetermined article
----------

This is an honor system game of course.

Choose your own goal article or try to find an article another user has suggested.

My suggestion: Find article "VY Canis Majoris" in 12 clicks or better

Additional Stipulation: No hyperlinks from the footer(categorical linking) or sidebars.

Predetermined article, target: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serpent_Mound

Launch point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacettepe_%C3%9Cniversitesi_B.K.

Hacettepe Ãœniversitesi B.K. -> English -> United States -> Native Americans in the United States -> Mounds -> Effigy Mounds* -> Great Serpent Mound

*Bonus: Serpent Mound is the featured image on the Effigy Mounds page

Is that 6 steps?

Ok my goal article is going to be Fraxinus excelsior (Ash tree)

Random start point: Peter Van de Veire

Lets do this:

Peter Van de Veire > Belgium > World Wide Fund for Nature > Forest > Tree > List of trees and shrubs by taxonomic family > Fraxinus excelsior

P.S: it might be more fun if the previous person suggests the article for the person below (the one they have to navigate to), or at least clicks a random article for them?

Perhaps, so you mean the previous poster selects the goal AND the start point?

so
Goal: Stephen Hawking

Blind in Business > Bank of England > United Kingdom > List of Universities in England > University of Cambridge > Stephen Hawking

arg-fallbackName="Laurens"/>
2 Fast 2 Furious (soundtrack) > Ludacris > Bill O' Reilly > Conservatism in the United States > Scopes Trial > Evolution > Darwin's finches

Okay
