the secret to not giving a fuck about stupid people: have enough integrity in what your doing,that what the stupid people are doing won't matter anymore.

what i think he is saying is that "stupid" people tend to say stupid things which can be very frustrating.
the trick he advices is to not listen/care, to spare your own sanity.

i disagree with that statement.
you must always listen to the other person, no matter how flawed the argument is.
what i would advice is not always jump into the debate right away, think about what you want to say, how your going to say it... and then say it.

for example; with a creationist you'll be bound to get flawed arguments about evolution.
instead of explaining what is wrong about their statements, you can also say;
"say... why don't we go to a bookstore and get you a textbook for you to read and then after your done reading, well get back at your point.. oh, and i will test you to see if you really read the book!"

At which point you'll get the response "I'm not going to read some Satanic pro-Evolution book! I have the Bible and that's enough for me!"

The only reply to that i can give is; "If you insist on not reading, that is your choice to make. However, if you do not know what you are saying the only thing you should do is remain silent. A person who can not fight has no right to stand in the middle of the arena."

i doubt he'd be able to understand what im saying, but he.. thats not my problem.

The problem is the dishonesty and their unique ability to undermine incredible amounts of work done over many decades by many thousands upon thousands of scientists with a simple "no it isn't". Oh no, read a book. I couldn't do that. Even if it took someone years to do the research, *sigh* I find it difficult to maintain focus on anything other than american gladiators these days.

It's hard to argue with a Creationist. Since they're not bound by things like logic and reason.

mhm. a Philosopher (only by profession) about age of 40 told me that logic has it's boarders, he said that logic can not understand what faith and god have to say, said that Faith(he meant christianism) is illogical, however it is "true" . when i asked how can an illogical thing possibly match truth in any way, he responded: for example if a man is starving it is logical that he will eat another man, but that does not mean it's "ture" (in my language there is a certain word that shares both meanings-the truth and right thing to do).

amazing how far can stupidity go.

as for the topic itself, well, foolish deeds do have effect on the world. i'm sure some of you have heard that story when somebody drunk the liquid with bacterias in them, while Louie Paster claimed that bacterias are little microorganisms in there that cause diseases. which held back microbiology back. not the best example, but first thing that came to my mind after Giordano Bruno =)

p.s.

Sorry for my English.
