To be clear, it doesn't bother me that there is people selling, it bothers me that there are people buying, I'm not even going to asume that they are getting dupped, let's say that they just want the piece of paper to show their friends and have a good laugh HOWEVER if you really have 25 bucks to burn, why not give them to charity, be it within our own comunity or abroad. I recognize peple's right to do whatever they well damn please with their money, it just seems insanely idiotic /selfish to waste 25 on this

Is it dumb, is it dishonest, is it pointless? I can't really describe it.
I have lots of issues with this but I am render speechless due to its shear absurdity.
Yet this tells us allot on how we run things on earth.

It's human pride / pretension to feel superior above anything and claim rights over everything.
I'm so glad there's no lively planet in reach of mandkind and assume they'll be died out before achievements could come close.

Oh well ... but maybe the moon can one day serve as 4th world to save our economie

People donate to the Conservative Party.

More pertinently, people voted for UKIP. ^_^

Even more pertinently, people donate to UKIP. Not, you know, a lot...

People have been selling acres of moon since I was a nipper, but due to the international agreement in place, it's incredibly unlikely that claims from private or corporate "owners" will have anything close to legal standing.

As far as legality goes it is completely vacuous.
1. The international agreement simply declares that any celestial body can not be owned. Period
2. Even if 1 was not the case, you can't simply declare to own something and then own it and sell it as if it was yours, that is the job of system of powers with standing armies.
3. Even if 1 and 2 were not the case, before you can claim and own a piece of land for the first time you need to be able to demarcate it and establish clear boarders, and then physically claim it. And since going to the moon is beyond the reach of common man, you can safely rest that such will never happen.

A good expression to explain this exercise is "it is like trying to buy a piece of the moon", unfortunately since this is literally trying to sell (and conversely buy) a piece of the moon, the impetus of its exercise in futility is sort of lost on this case. You can't really compare it to something worst because this action defines the absurdity of it all.
