Well, these folks tend to lose interest if you keep it too scientific. This kind of response is concise, accurate and presumably effective - he gets the point across.

It's kind of depressing, people have a way to ask an expert in the field some pretty interesting questions and it seems he gets nothing but planet x and conspiracy nonsense.
