Even as I type this I can sense how cold this sounds...how cruel and uncaring I actually am...my heart does (even if it is faintly) long that you just one of you on here would be saved and this is why I post this dire warning.

Yeah, why don't you go outside to play hide and go fuck yourself?

Get over it. Nobody gives a crap about your stupid threat of hell.

hehehe

Jesus made it very clear. He used the same words for "forever" to describe both heaven and hell.

"Forever!" he whispers in wonder. The idea deepens, widens, and towers over him.

The awful truth spreads before him like endless, overlapping slats: When I put in ten thousand centuries of time here, I will not have accomplished on thing. I will not have one second less to spend here.

What does Heaven consist of?

ENDLESSNESS

It's such a cold and cruel place.

lol i love how he has that "loving god"-avatar

I submit that the "loving" in the "loving god" in his avatar is used as a verb rather than an adjective...

Which actually makes it worse because his avatar promotes loving a god that is responsible for a cruel place. Wheeee.

This something to do with catholicism?

This is excerpt from an article in Moody Monthly:
hell is a bad place my all loving god will send you if dont believe in him and use the free will he gave you to do everything he says.

What does Hell consist of?

1. Great Physical Pain
2. Darkness
3. Bottomless Pit
4. Isolation From Loved Ones
5. ENDLESSNESS

Even as I type this I can sense how cold this sounds...how cruel and uncaring I actually am...my heart does (even if it is faintly) long that you just one of you on here would be saved and this is why I post this dire warning.

Blood pardon, I hate to be blunt, but we have heard this before. Lots of us had to throw of the mantle of christianity and the fear of hell to get to where we are today. This hell, as you have pointed out, is cruel and eternal punishment, for finite crimes. I would actually like to discuss with you, if you allow. I hate to see someone in the same trap I was in. If nothing else, it would allow you to present a case which did not seem so much like a threat, or scare tactic. Hope you respond soon!

Ps. In hell, it is mentioned as the fire that is not quenched, and the worm that dieth not. You forgo tto mentions worms eating you throughout eternity.

Ya, BP - that's cool and all, I love cathartic stories of people suffering as much as the next guy, but I don't sacrifice my life to them.

It's kind of refreshing to be reminded that this is the "omnibenevolent" father figure that christians want to believe in. Of course, it's telling that the people their god wants to see in the hells they invent are the same people they hate.

I've always thought his avatar looked suspiciously like a circle jerk

Considering that Yahweh has killed over 2 million people overall (according to the Holy Bible), it does makes sense that he would be willing to send people to hell eternally because of his barbaric nature. If Adolf Hitler was God, he would've been more than happy to cast Jews into eternal damnation, so I'm unconvinced at how Yahweh can be all-loving and caring for his own creation.

What happened to the compassionate and forgiving god? An atheist dies, walks up to the pearly gates, says:

"well... i guess i was wrong in doubting you for my 75 year life-span. I am deeply sorry. i see the error in my ways as i couldn't believe in something which their was insufficient evidence for. You being THE all knowing and all powerful God created me KNOWING that i would preform certain actions that would displease you for some reason. You created me with the knowledge that i would offend you in the future and apparently now i am accountable for your actions because you like to play the role of the "puppet-master" and F*** with people's lives... so basically, it was far too difficult for you to put a signature in your best-selling novel so now i am responsible for all of your immoral and irrational decisions. Oh, and by the way, i know you are God and everything and have been sitting in the clouds for an ETERNITY, but obviously the 75 years that i spent not believing in you is far too long to turn the other cheek. I obviously deserve INFINITE punishment for my FINITE actions.

it's a good thing that not all christians/ catholics alike are ignorant of their own beliefs and then question atheists on where they get their moral standards from.

Assuming a god exists, he'd give you the face palm if you actually said this in his face. Hehe.

So you don't mean like in the bible when people "know" each other?

I love it when the religious say they "know" god

Come back blood_pardon, I'll be nice to you...

... If you can prove the place in that article exists.

If not then I am not sure whether to pity you or laugh mockingly at you. That article might wash with your religious world view, but do you seriously think that people inclined to doubt the validity everything in your holy book are going to buy it? No where did you attempt to prove or even logically argue a case for hell being a reality. Then you spew out a pseudo-compassionate dirge about how you wish we could see the pain that we are in for. If only we could see the truth.

We do see the truth, and that is part of what the whole 'League of Reason' is all about. The truth is the place you are describing does not exist anywhere in the observable universe. That is not to say that there is no such place, but you would have to do a hell of a lot (excuse the pun) to demonstrate its existence. Right now it's fair to say that the place you posit exists only in the realm of the imagination. I am more than willing to retract that if you can prove me wrong, but I know that, going by our current knowledge, you can't.

I don't think you are out to threaten anyone, you are a sincere believer in what you are saying, and you wouldn't normally dream of threatening people. This is what religion can do to people though, it can make you sincerely feel that an exception to your personal moral notions in the special case of acting upon your [personal interpretation of] God's will. Its a pitiful example of how religion can lead to behaviour that I am willing to call psychotic. That may seem harsh on my part, but I don't see how there is anything stable about the bizarre contradictions and cognitive dissonance of the religious mind. Where a person such as yourself, who doesn't normally go around threatening people (I assume) will make threats of eternal suffering and not even feel that it is morally unjustifiable. Because it's okay with God, you can still sleep at night.

I would assume you would never tell a fellow human being "if you don't change what you believe I am going to make a huge fire and burn you alive in enormous pain". Yet you threaten us with enormous pain and turmoil for eternity, and it's okay because it's not you doing the punishment, it's your imaginary friend. Well, I'm sorry, but it's not okay, and it's laughably fallacious to the highest degree. Therefore, I stand by my original sentiment:

Fuck off.

That really was a funny post.

Well my condition for being nice is proving that hell exists, I'll bake a cake for blood_pardon and even attend church with him/her if they can prove hell exists. Heck I'd even do sexual favours to avoid that place.

But you can't prove it, so yeah, no reason to be nice :p
