The Absurdity of Religion: Tortucan Traps

So, thanks for Dragan Glas - and Tsar, no less - I came upon a little lecture, given in the little series of videos I'll embed below.

This is something I've been looking for for a while now.
Some of you may have noticed that I've been interested in the more psychological and cognitive mechanisms "allowing" for religion, and this Tortucan stuff is "just" the latest piece in a rather big jig-saw puzzle. However, it is a very big piece.

I urge you all to watch!

Hmm, no idea if I got this from live chat or not, but I was reading about that earlier

Thank fuck for the transcript, that guy has got to be the worst orator I've heard, such a shame given the content.

Interesting... I especially like his sugestion for a collective system of verification/refutation. It's been a good day for vid watching for me. brettppalmer's "problem of good" vids and now this. Good find.

Well, I'm sorry he couldn't do it in cockney!

Seriously... really??

I liked the fact that he was quick. Lots of info really fast, as opposed to so many others, which would have taken at least double the time to do this.

He was also fairly clear and understandable.

What did you dislike about him?

It's horses for courses I suppose. I prefer the slow methodical approach to complex ideas to allow things to sink in. Sam Harris is perfect for me. I'm the sort that prefers to think and absorb for a few seconds, then move on. With him all I heard was noise, couldn't watch it, had to settle for the transcript.

i prefer transcripts in general simply because
a) my Internet is slow and scripts load faster than videos
b) they allow me to absorb stuff in my pace
c) i can search easily for keywords

Oh and i do kind of like the Tortucan idea
