Well, this year marks the first ever Amazing Meeting in London! (woohoo)

We want as many Leaguers to be there as possible. We'll try to organise some kind of League gear for representatives to wear. Speakers this year include James Randi, Phil Plait, Richard Dawkins, Adam Savage, Richard Wiseman, Jon Ronson, Ariane Sherine, Brian Cox, Ben Goldacre and Simon Singh.

Here are the FAQs, lifted from the official website:
What is TAM?
TAM is 'The Amaz!ng Meeting', the conference of the James Randi Educational Foundation. TAM London is the first of these conferences to be held outside the USA, and is in addition to TAM7 to be held in Las Vegas in July 2009. Previous TAM speakers have included Nobel Laureate Murray Gell-Mann, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, magicians Penn and Teller, and dozens of other noted scientists, entertainers and academics. You can expect a warm welcome from the hundreds of like-minded people who attend TAMs, from all walks of life and backgrounds but with a common interest in critical thinking.

How much will it cost?
Costs will be announced when registration opens in April 2009. Join the mailing list, Facebook group or Twitter feed to receive a notification.

How do I register?
Registration opens in April 2009, full details will be announced on this website. Join the mailing list, Facebook group or Twitter feed to receive a notification. We will only be able to accept online payments, from a valid credit or debit card.

I've been to TAM in Las Vegas, how will TAM London differ?
TAM London is not held in a hotel, unlike the Las Vegas event. This means the seating is 'theatre-style' seats rather than tables and chairs, and accommodation is not available onsite. As this is the first TAM outside the USA, it's two days rather than the three days of Las Vegas, but the registration cost reflects the difference. This does mean there will not be paper sessions or workshops, but Saturday night 'meet and greet', entertainment and catering is available for a small additional cost.

Is accommodation included?
Accommodation is not included in the registration price. We have negotiated discounts with local hotels which you can access here but you may wish to search on hotels.com or other dealer first as internet rates are often the cheapest option. The Mermaid Conference Centre is very central, the nearest Tube stop being St Pauls, so you may wish to locate a hotel further afield for additional savings.

Is there an age restriction?
The minimum age for daytime TAM attendance is 12. The Saturday evening entertainment may contain material of an adult nature and profanities, so a minimum age of 16 is advised, although left to parental discretion.

Are the tickets refundable?
Tickets are refundable up to August 1st 2009, minus an administration fee of ,£15.00 per ticket. However, we anticipate demand for the event to be high, so if you require a refund after this date please email the organisers as we may be able to transfer your registration (admin fee may still apply).

Who do I contact with queries about TAM London?
If you have any queries, please contact the UK Organiser Tracy King at info@februarymarketing.com

Can I take photos or video?
You can take photographs for personal use only. Video cameras are not permitted.

I can't attend, will there be a DVD?
Yes, the event will be filmed and a DVD made available for sale later in the year. In addition, there will be a live Twitter feed, Flickr photo updates and live blogging from TAM London, so you can hear about the talks and keep up with events as they unfold!
You can get more info at their website: tamlondon.org

There is also a Facebook group and (rather quiet) Twitter feed.

I know myself and a couple of our moderators here will be there. We'll sort out some League drinks at the nearest pub - first round is on dprjones!

Ticket sales open on May 11th. The cost is ,£175 with an additional fee of ,£25 for the meet and greet. Information from the latest announcement can be found here.

You need another option:

'I'm IN the UK and MIGHT be attending' - it all depends on whether I can aford it and get there XD

I'm outside the UK and I MIGHT come :p

I think I'll wait and see what the costs will be before I make my decision.

Looking at the dates, I ought to be able to make it. As with everyone else, it will depend on the cost.

A ,£15 admin fee for ticket refunds makes it sound like they'll be at least double that. Although I suppose I just spent ,£30 on a one-day martial arts seminar...and this is probably of a similar interest level. I should be able to save up enough by October!

Ah shucks! When will they do a TAM in Canada? T_T But take pictures-aplenty, please. And if you could get a camcorder for Dawkins or Savage speeches, I'd love you forever plus a day.

I'm from Norway and WILL be attending, that is if I manage to get tickets before they sell out, I'm checking the website furiously every time I'm near a computer. Also if I can afford it, I have no idea what it will cost, but I guess I'm willing to pay up to 400 ,£ or something.

I'm in the UK, but I won't be attending  due to the fact that I simply don't have the time (what with exams coming up) or the money (,£50 by train, even with a young person's railcard!). I simply can't come, although I would dearly love to.

How often do they do these TAM things?

This is the first one in the UK. They are up to their seventh annual event in the US this year.
Hopefully, they will become annual in the UK too after this one ;)

Damn, can't get to England. Hell, I am saving up for a two night beach camping trip.

I live in Germany and am planning to attend provided you can prove that dprjones will shout me a glass of ale.

,£175 for two days?! Even including three meals I find that overpriced. I guess that's London prices - I just cannot justify it. :(

arg-fallbackName="Josan"/>
Registration has been announced will open at noon May 11th.

Quoted from the FAQ:

"How much will it cost?
The cost of the conference is ,£175 (,£165 for JREF members or students - proof required), this includes breakfast and lunch on the Saturday and breakfast on the Sunday, plus refreshments throughout the day, your delegate pack of 'goodies' and of course the amazing line-up speakers. The optional meet-and-greet meal and comedy event on the Saturday night is priced separately at ,£25."

Now I am definitly attending! =D

Here's the TAM London website.

Thanks Josan, you updated it for me

I'm going for the full thing. Ticket sales are a few days off my birthday so I think I can blag some of the costs as a birthday present.

I will send out an email shortly before the 11th to all League members.

Registration is now open!

However something bugged with google checkout, and I will have to pay 1000,£ in shipping, which is quite out of the question.

And the TAM London site was taken offline due to traffic.

Good luck.
