My first thought was: "Will creationists accept help from biologists who try to find out how the virus evolves in order to develop an efficient vaccine and medical treatment?"

That's his point - we know how virus and bacterial populations evolve towards resistance and we prepare for it by having alternative medicines to kill the resistant strains as well. We don't just kill the virus as it exists right now; we kill the virus and prepare for it's evolution. We only do this because we know evolution by natural selection, and know what to expect and what we can do when it does.

Apparently it's a reassortment of several strains of influenza A virus subtype H1N1, including a strain endemic in humans and two strains endemic in pigs, as well as an avian influenza (wiki).
It originated in Mexico so it seems more logical to call it Mexican flu than Swine flu. Not for any religious reasons though. But I'd love to see how some of those religious people would respond if they are diagnosed with swine flu. Wow they must be some filthy souls! Excommunications? Capital punishment? :lol:
And why not call it Mexican flu, they named the Spanish flu after it's origins and it killed 40 million people worldwide, does anyone think any less of Spain because of that?

That's how 'flus seem to be named recently - avian influenza, for example.
On the Spanish influenza point, you're right I don't think it matters what it's called. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy.

BTW, I just checked - the Spanish flu was actually called that, because it hit Spain exceptionally hard. The first wave of that flu arose in Kansas.
It seems the current infection can be effectively combatted with a number of antiviral drugs, so I'm not too concerned...

Its just sensationalism, SARS, bird flue and now this, the internet has made newspapers desperately put sales over reputation, more then ever before so they have to make a big deal of it to survive.
Anyway British and American hospitals are much better then Mexican hospitals, there are many things that kill in the third world that don't in Britian for many reasons.
