Found this study today at the aforementioned source.
I've been telling people this stuff FOR YEARS though I never had a study to back me up before. I've always found that I had faster problem solving skills than a lot of non-gamers and that I could break tasks down to become more efficient by thinking of them like a real time strategy game.
When I lead a team at Xbox Support I even went so far as to call myself the macro manager and I made a micro manager for each team and basically explained stuff to them in macro and micro RTS terms and I found it worked really well.
