I'm currently using Windows 7, this happened to me, it may happen to you.
If you are a skype user and recently you tryed to update to v5 but for some reason in bogles mid instalation because it askig for administrator permition to acess the windows startup bar despite the fact that you had given proper administrator permition for it to do so, and then the only option you have left is to cancel instalation and leaving you sucessfully without skype. Then I a temporary fix that will allow you to use skype anyways.
Try to install again and let the think hookup, when it asks to retry or cancel go to the Programs and copy the skype directory to your desktop. Cancel the instalation and then copy back the contents you have just pasted on your desktop back to the Programs directory.
In the sype directorythere should be a directory call "phone" and in it an aplication, that's the aplication you will need to make a shortcut of to your desktop (or whatever you use) to be able to run back skype. It should work but the new version of skype totaly sucks balls and if you have autoupdae I sugest turning it off for the time being.
