Simulation of Natural Selection

It's a nice little simulation, but the main reason I'm posting it is to express my happiness at finding someone using the metaphor I came up with years ago wherein Creationists try to think about evolution as if it were Pokemon, with an organism evolving traits to dominate its generation. <3

Mate, I've been using your Pokémon metaphor for years.

That is a really lovely sim.

I've watched through his entire series now, and he's spot on, and made some great simulated experiments.

I'd forgotten, but I've subbed and added the evo playlist.

Not entirely disinterested in his economics playlist. Been thinking a lot about economy of late.

He's like the illegitimate lovechild of 3Blue1Brown and Ozmoroid.

I might be a little moist.

He gained even more respect from me (beyond Pokemon references) by publishing a video frankly analyzing the mistakes he'd made in a prior video.

I'm on the second, but that's the sort of thing that makes me sit up and pay attention. It's why I know I can watch a Potholer54 video and be as entirely confident in what he says without even checking his sources as I'd be with you. Demonstrable integrity is the benchmark, and there's no substitute.

For context in case others don't wish to view the whole series...

All his prior videos were computer generated simulations with him off-screen narrating explaining the evolutionary relevance and math.

The content was scripted with him expounding on a very specific aspect of evolutionary theory, explaining how we might look at that with a simplified simulated computer environment, drawing conclusions etc., all with a friendly, approachable, but ultimately authoritative tone. He was exhibiting expertise and educating others with his expertise. He was, in short, teaching.

Then he posts a video of himself, putting his face on camera for the first time, all in the name of being able to apologize directly into the camera for the astoundingly stupid error he'd made in the previous video.

He then proceeded to demolish himself, picking apart all the mistakes he'd made, the assumptions that scuppered him etc., and reflecting on why it matters.

I fell in love with him at that moment! :)

Integrity, for me, is how well one's reported knowledge corresponds with what can be demonstrated as true. And the demands of that kind of integrity isn't in how other's perceive you, but in how willing you are to accept - despite your emotional misgivings, woolly thinking, or plethora of mammalian cognitive biases - demonstrably real descriptions of the universe you inhabit.
